Thats the only info I could find.

cherrington17 05-17-2008 11:10 PM

so it has a digital out (sweet!) and 8V preouts. thats the only "flashy" (pricey) options i see there.

unless it said it has a cd changer in it? either that or it CAN control one. but for 2k, it better have one.

lonnie 05-17-2008 11:33 PM

The fiber out is sweet, and the this thing is loaded with rca outputs. 2 rca inputs, and the PLL (Phase Lock Loop) tuning circuity should make for pretty noise free operation. To rich for my blood though

Not going anywhere near the $4,000 for that deck opionion long as you like it and can afford it :<) As for installs not sure what there is available out there that would look more of a stock installation. I think the stock one looks way cleaner then anything I have seen in here so far. Is it as good obviously not. Is there any kind of kit that would be as clean as stock look? That I would be interested in hearing.

kniedelm9490 05-18-2008 12:18 AM

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...EH-P47DH?tab=B
While I was looking around wonder if that's as flush a fit as a stock unit.

As I side note I don't remember ever saying anyones shit sucked /shrug. Think I said install looks like shit. I guess I was kinda harsh but only an opinion they're like ahoes everyone has one LOL. I probably should have said somthing along the lines of doesn't look as clean as stock /shrug live and learn.

^whats with the gap on the right side??

if you want it to look fancy and stock, you CAN pull the trim off and fiberglass a mount for it using the trim and a base plate, so it looks like its meant for that location.

or

do the "carputer" method and have a 7" touchscreen in place of the double din radio. we used to have several members w/ those but i think they've all moved on to bigger, better things. (other cars)

Ryan from Ohio 05-18-2008 08:58 AM

Our lovely cars trim ring sucks. Its angled and curved... Unless your unit sites perectly flush and fills the entire holes theres going to be a gap (double din). Single dins are always going to have the fit kits.

A member on my board worked at a place selling McIntosh during the hay days (back in early/mids 90's). He said the 4000 combo was going from about $3,200-4K. But he lives in a rich area... so who knows.

Theres little info out there on it, and even less on how it operates and such. Just the other day an MX4000 was on E bay. Went for $300. Just didnt have the MDA4000 with it, making the MX useless...

With Head Units its all about design circuitry and processing.

Also note double dins are not very popular and there really isnt any "good" ones, IMO.

Get a decent head and get a good fit kit and be happy. I advise American international fit kits.

YALEROYNOT 05-18-2008 09:21 AM

I am in the process of replacing the heater controls and making a single din radio hole and the trim exectly that a trim. if you want a factory look single din radio hop on www.fiberglassforums.com and sign up and start reading there is a lot of info and how to's also the guys/gals are willing to help if needed.

What's up with the McIntosh stuff, why do they make it look ancient?

Ryan from Ohio 05-18-2008 05:49 PM

Its from 1996.

Its called class, which almost all new units lack ;)

[ion] C2 05-18-2008 08:49 PM

Just looks old and outdated to me.. why use that over a new piece? Don't the new ones have far more features and power?

irondiezl3 05-18-2008 09:18 PM

will this fit?

kniedelm9490 05-19-2008 12:42 AM

i dont think it opens all the way it like slants down and ejects it with the screen but ya i hear you.

Cliff8928 05-19-2008 02:07 AM

I have an AVIC D3 sitting around and it looks like it will fit the Alero just fine (there is a dash kit for the double-din size too.

My TNR definitely looks a bit bigger than the AVIC and it fits for the most part (the bottom right edge barely overlaps the display.

sorry, no good daytime pics.
