where can you get coilovers for the alero?

been looking on ebay cant find any for the nbody. didnt someone make them? and will j body coilovers work?

bdyman 12-16-2007 12:10 PM

struts for j-body and n-bodies are completely different
talk to joel sound extreme, he used to make them, a few members were on them i was one of them, it was the most bone shattering ride in my life, handled great but due to the way i had to make the mounting plate work to fit the coilover constant noise and the bone, shake my teeth loose of a ride i was glad to see them go

bdyman 12-16-2007 12:15 PM

that was almost slammed, looked great but never again

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 02:16 PM

i read something from back in the day when joel was going to make these i found on google. but there was a person on ebay that had a kit.same guy that offered the clear headlight for 400 bucks.
i know he has a white hoe with the aas and stellies last i saw

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 02:18 PM

and i quess my car would look lower since i have a certin bodykit

Satsuriku 12-16-2007 02:22 PM

looks great but if the ride is as stiff as bdyman says, then no thanks! and since my car is a daily driver, and the winters here kinda suck, i dont think my car would last a full winter

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 02:25 PM

that y before winter u move them up to no drop most coilovers drop 0-4in

Gr1m 12-16-2007 04:06 PM

ride is still going be the shittiest thing you've ever felt in your life, friend had them in is cavy and its like riding around on 4 poles

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 04:50 PM

hahaha

Oldsman 12-16-2007 06:41 PM

hey coilovers are stiff but bdyman had too light of springs so it got very bouncy.

mine are stiff has hell but damn does it handle.

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 06:52 PM

where did u get them?

Gr1m 12-16-2007 07:04 PM

air ride ftw, get the performance without the shit ride

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 07:09 PM

but it doesnt go that high i want to be able to go to stock height for winter

Oldsman 12-16-2007 09:35 PM

off the green OSV

bdyman 12-16-2007 09:46 PM

riding on 4 poles is an understatment, i think scot has the video of me in my car coming back from lansing, after i sold those the guy i sold them to did the same thing i did and sold them
right after i bought air ride, and yes it does go to ride height, i drove all winter at a 2 ` drop no problems at all
i really would not do coil overs, i would do air ride

pimpalero2003 12-16-2007 10:16 PM

but air doesnt go up back to stock height thats what richie said

ok ill help you out, go and look for coilovers for a dodge stealth ( yes a dodge stealth ) or a 3000gt i did my homework cause no one makes them for our car besides i belive groundcontrol , i also know that in europe bilstein made a full adjustable coilover suspencion for the n body but this was like back in late 2000 and i cant find them anywhere now but im still looking for them. Anyways yeah get the dodge stealth springs and youll be happy the car rides very nice and the struts dont bottom out either.

this is what they look like, they dont make no noice or anything at all when you install them.......they work damn good thats all i have to say so far 2 years with no problems or complints at all.

How did i find this out was that eibach srings were 300 plus dollars and it only lowered so i want it adjustable springs so i started looking at the weight of my car and comparing them to those cars that had coilovers availible and came to find out that the stealth was like close to 400 pound more than my car so i went to the autopart store and asked for a strut for a stealth to see the thicknes of the shock it self, all matched perfect. The only thing you have to do is remove the plastic piece thats on the strut rod (you will now what im talking about when you take the srings of your car) other than that its just common sence after that on how to install them.

Another cool thing you can do with the coilovers is that you can cut the old piece where the old sring used to sit and you can put up to almost a 10 inch wide wheel, thats what im doing to mine but im doing 20x9....:coolio: like the bottom pic .... so far so good i hope everything works for me cause i really like the look of this car like this

the wheels that i have on my car here were 18x8 and they were about a almost a quater inch from hitting that plate on the strut and the tires were 225 40 18

this one was with 20x8

well good luck and i hope this helped you out.

20x7.5 then and thanks bro

pimpalero2003 12-17-2007 10:51 AM

wow how nuch did u pay for your coilovers and where did u get them??? i searched ebay and found the for a average price of a G

Satsuriku 12-17-2007 11:13 AM

if i did my research properly, i think your going to be looking at anywhere from $650.00 to $1,100.00 for a set of good quality coilovers. i did a general search on ebay and the cheap $60.00 set for like a civic or any domestic car look way more different then that of a $1,000.00 set for a domestic car. i dont know much about this kind of thing personaly but im sure someone can correct me.

no problem just trying to help ( i just never want it to tell anybody about the springs i want it it to be my secret ) but you were not going to get a good answer so i figure i help, get the springs and a set of these and you will almost ride like if you had a 1500 dollar suspension plus these struts are for lowered applications and they will last you a long time.

i got mine for 130 dollars almost 2 years ago on ebay , i was just looking on ebay and they dont have any ( i was like what ? ) but im going to look for a set or a site that has them for cheap , the springs have to be for that application of a car tho ,you can see the difference from these spring compare to the ones for a honda or any other car.

pimpalero2003 12-17-2007 04:20 PM

yeah im not going to pay a gino for springs 150 is a little better

The wheels on this pic is photoshopped. You can't be bagged on 20x9 and be that low.

Theres a guy on forbidden (bodykit) website w/ 20x8.5 and he sits alot higher laid out.. than me w/ my 20x7.5 wide wheels.

those look like 22's they photoshopped on. It takes up more room than my 20's in diameter.

Also, they don't make 20 by 9 or 10" wide in FWD offsets, only RWD offsets. So it wouldn't tuck like that in pic.

pimpalero2003 12-17-2007 06:22 PM

ahh that was a badass ga

Oldsman 12-17-2007 09:22 PM

i have 18x7.5 on mine and did have 19x8 on the rear. but tires are 255/40's. the 18's are damn closer about 1/8" from the front springs and even with a 1" spacer on the rear i have 1/2" between the tire and the spring. with the 19's i had about 1/4" space in the rear.

so unless you have a 35 offset a 10" wide will not fit and tuck

i know they are photoshopped but is a reference on how i want my car to look
if worst comes to worst my wheels will be 20x8 front and 20x9 rear with coilovers you can cut the old strut plate and you will have no problem fitting the wheels. Trust me im in the process of doing this as we speak. I will have pics when im done.

Also i want it to say that with any lowering spring you willll have a anoying bounce to it wether its in the front or the rear depends on the brand. Other than that they only way to avoid the bounce is to stay stock its that easy.

Oh by the way read this FWD 20x9..... i did my homework... like i said im in the process of doing this.

yea you can do 20 x 8.5 and 20 x 9. You just won't be as low as w/ a smaller width rim. But 20x10 is out of the pic. unless you use a BIG spacer, extended wheel studs and widebody the car. I know there is FWD offsets but more than likey not have one for our cars. Did you email them what offsets they come in?

yeah 20x10 way tooo big, what i want is a wheel with a 3inch lip thats why im doing this. Mostly will be for shows and just to cruise around also my car is turbo so the 20s are definetly for shows.

im trying to design a control arm for my car so that a buddy of mine can make them for me.

pimpalero2003 12-18-2007 02:22 AM

You know the size of the lip is all about the offset size. Doesn't matter what brand of rim you go with.

normally RWD cars can have huge lips cuz they can run larger offer in the rear than FWD cars.

heres a bagged 350z RWD car .. they can do large offsets and wider wheels. Those wheels are like 19x9.5 front Offset +10mm and 19x10.5 rear Offset -22mm

pimpalero2003 12-18-2007 02:58 AM

Damn now those have some big lips im not going that extreme... more like this with a nice lip: 2.5 to 3 inch lip.
