gm supercharger??
is anyone running the gm supercharger?? If so, how do you like it.

yeah i know i have read everything about it, ive been on other j body forums. i have many of the parts for the install. i was wondering from my fellow alero owners if they liked it.
|
As far as i know, nobody here has it. One of the major reasons being that the re-flash for the PCM is not available for the Alero and Grand Am (unlike the 2.4). So that only leaves custom tuning. I will get one after I get the car paid off, etc.. and have it dyno-tuned at a local shop which uses the HPTuners software that is compatible with the Alero.

I was gonna just run an intercooler and see what kinda boost I could get from that :emotlol:
|
Shoot, didn't realize this was the Eco forum lol; I know there's some others with the other engines that have the S/C on here.
|
well i have the charger and the intake now i need to get all the misc. parts so i can install it.

That guy is a freakin tard ... but at least it was worth a laugh  |

you must have missed the other thread where the guy was asking how much boost he could get from just putting on an intercooler. I know better. |
there are to many other parts invovled to do an intercooler on the gm supercharger. i was thinking bout it but i would rather not and just get a good tune.

No ... I was talkin' about that guy not you:rolleyes2: |

Or, since you have a 5 speed Eco, you could just turbo it and beat all the supercharged Eco's you may come across  |
Twin-Charged FTW!!
But really, the Ecotec Supercharger kit (17800003) includes the intercooler core in the intake manifold. The rest of the intercooler parts are not there. You could most likely find the rest of the stuff on ebay or possibly search for a yard that has a Cobalt SS-SC or Ion Redline. |
yes i know all this but the hassle of running extra lines and another water pump...... i just wanted something easy to give me a little more power.
|
yea i would do turbo if it wasnt my dd. once i had the turbo i would want more and more boost and then i would rebuild the motor with internals then cams then etc. then i wont have a dd anymore. i have 2 other cars that are for that. at least the charger limits me somewhat.;)
|
My turbo Alero is my DD also. A built engine with cams and a lot of boost doesn't make it no longer a DD. I'm swapping in a built Eco and hoping to push between 320-350hp to the wheels, and it'll still be my DD. What fun is it to limit your engine? Just start off with a simple kit with 8-10 psi. You'll be pretty happy with it for a while...then just upgrade a little at a time.
|
yeah i see your point but i told myself not to spend alot of money on the car. i have waaaaaaaaay too much in the others. as much as i would love to make the more it might not be the best idea. but you never know:coolio:
|
Well, if you decide you want more than the supercharger can offer, just add a turbo afterwards...
