I'm not real clear on engine jargon, but i'm sure one of you guys know the answer to this. I know the engine in the 3.4 is a 207 cu. in., right? Let's say you wanted to drop in an engine that was 120 cubic inches bigger that the stocker. Does cu. in. have to do with the actual size of the engine that can fit in our engine bays? Or does it have to do with the internal workup of the engine parts and nothing to do with it's external physicality? And i know the V6 engine bay is already crammed with the 207, but does it have more room for a larger engine, and if so, how large? And if the larger engine doesn't fit, will modifying the engine diminish the structural integrity of the vehicle, at least in the front end section? I know it's alot to answer, but i've just been doing some thinkin about Alero engine swaps. And like i said, I'm only "thinking" this stuff over, before someone jumps in with the "why are you asking, it's not like you have the money to get it done anyway" statement <_< .

cubic inches is only internal. it has nothing to do with external dimisions. You could fit a larger motor in there but you would have to have custom motor mounts done and rearranging a lot of stuff depending on the the width, length, and angle of block.

good luck but engine swaps dont work usually unless you got the $$$$$. Space is a big downfall in the engine bay
