Weird Signal Noise!!
Okay, have an annoying signal noise coming from dont know where.
What happens here is if you make a right or left turn, and you turn on your blinker, once you complete your turn, the handle goes back to it's normal position. However, the noise of the blinker doesn't always stop. Now the problem is that it happens even if you dont make a turn, if your just driving you hear the blinker noise but at a faster pace(its on and off). and when I hear the blinker noise, the blinker itself does not light up, it is just the noise. Does anyone know what it is? |
sounds like the switch is going out.... pretty easy fix if thats what the problem is...
when mine went out i had my service light come on and a burning smell from from the steering wheel. replaced it for 110$ and it was all good from there. idk if it is going out or not because i didnt have the problem you're having but it could be. |
so which switch is this? like the turn signal and the wiper switch needs to be replaced?
|
Hazard switch. Your 4ways. (its where the "blinker" timer is) they get messed up. Pretty common. There is a how to on site somewhere.

for sure it is the hazard switch? |
Absolutely. 100%.
Mine did the same a couple years ago. I posted about it, members all agreed, I changed it, it stopped. If it was the multifunction turning/wiper assembly, it wouldn't turn on properly, not cause it to hyper-click |
sweet thanks dude!
|
wait a minute, on another thread it states
"multifunction switch (turning signal switch) and wire harness." and to clean that to stop the noise |
yea I gotta take mine apart, clean it and use die-electric grease
|
okay which is it? is it the hazard switch or the multifunction switch (turning signal switch)
|
unless their both the same.. lol.
|
does it do it mostly once you used your turn signals? if its when you use the turn signal then it goes nuts then thats it if its always doing it non-stop then its the hazzards
|
well it a mix of both, usually when you turn the signal on and after that it goes nuts
|
yup its your multifunction then not the hazzards mine does the same thing and then sometimes it just doesn't do it at all and others just non stop so I have to turn the music up. really sucks when your in a drive-thru
|
well it is not constant. For example, after the turn signal, it may or may not come on. But after driving, it turns on and stops. Sometimes it can be 10-15 mins before it starts up again. It doesn't stay on forever.
|
like I said multi switch, mine does the same thing. google multifunction switch grand am and ull get a very good how-to on how to fix it with pictures and all I have been lazy to fix mine because it stopped doing it all winter and just recently started to come back
|
Ok... after reading through the old posts... I'll change my vote. Open the Multifunction and give it a cleaning.
Easiest, most likely response. Ignore my previous post. doh. |
mine was covered under a recall so check your stealership first they might fix it for free
|
Here a simple & free solution it's a Grand Am but same thing with the Alero...

okay another problem is that do we need to disconnect the battery before doing this?
cuz my horn is going insane after I cleaned and replaced it. Unless one of the connections is bent inside? |
