My alero performance is all stock. I need some help in deciding what i should do as far as performance. First two things will be a dual exhaust and CAI. After that I'm kinda lost. I don't wanna to anything crazy but just a few things to make it run better and sound better overall. ANY IDEAS??

doubleN0alero 04-11-2005 08:11 PM

I got an Intake manifold i can sell you pretty cheap...brand new with gasket

I thought I remembered someone saying they had one a while back.
If I hadn't blown all my tax money.................

hey, I know you offered it to this kid, but I'll take the intake manifold...

Anyways you should do these
Lower it, I don't care if you consider it a cosmetic upgrade, it's pointless to supe up a 4x4 Alero IMO
Intake + Exaust (prefferably at the same time)
Headers
Throttle Body
Intake manifold
that should be good for starters

yeah it was me, i've just been too lazy to actually start a thread in the bazaar section...LOL..

don't do the dual exhaust. it gonna cost more that it will gain, just get a good 2.5" crush bent or 2.25 mandrel bent single exhaust. CAI is good. MAybe move into some pulleys. Port the intake manifold to match the TB. headers if you got the $$. that's not too bad of a start for bolt ons.

Oldsman 04-12-2005 12:58 AM

CAI
2.5 or 2.25 mandrel bent exhaust cat back system
2.3 HO TB
2.3 HO Intake
UR crank pulley
Header
motor mount
B&M or Interceptor

that would be a good start

PrImEtImE 04-12-2005 09:51 PM

thanks for all the help everybody :) and how much would you sell the intake manifold for?

mfuller 04-12-2005 10:48 PM

Sticky tires and better brake pads.

K, I should be receiving my 2.3HO TB and Manifold soon. Quick question, before I install them, is there anything I should do to clean them up appearance wise, for example powder coat or chrome??? just wondering because I never had anything like this before and I just want everything under the hood to look nice?

depends how fany you wanna get...you could polish the intake manifold...i had started but lost hope in the 'ho so dropped the project, its not as shiny as Oldsman's, but its better then the rough finish it's got.

keepitsimple 11-15-2005 06:35 PM

in ur guys opinion do you think the crank pully is worth it? i was looking into it but was undecided.?

Oldsman 11-15-2005 07:12 PM

with other mods yes it is worth it but by itself it is not.

PrImEtImE 11-28-2005 07:13 PM

well I received my 2.3HO TB and manifold which is awesome. Before I install them I have to figure out my charging system problem. Once the TB and manifold are installed I'll have them along with a magnaflow exhaust. I'm starting slowly but surely. Next few things performance wise might be CAI/WAI, interceptor, and once I figure out what type of drop I should give my ride, springs. Than I will get back to appearance which is now just basically mold on body kit and paint job. Pics of my current ride should be up soon.

Spilner521 11-29-2005 03:00 AM

make sure before you install 2.3HO manifold you slot out the mounting holes for the studs and drill the holes lower for the bolts above the studs, and also modify the shape of each port to somewhat match the 2.4's B shape ports, like this:

Also, for a write up on how to do this correctly, here's a couple links to 2 different articles:

my opinion in the end of all things. Crank pully is a waste of time..

however, if you have to upgrade it, and just have the desire to touch everything... 2.3HO crank pulley does the charm too.

I bought the manifold and TB from an aleromod member and believe he has had it installed in his car for a while so it should be good to go??? thanks for the info i'll make sure to double check

PrImEtImE 11-30-2005 04:03 PM

I will be installing the 2.3 TB and manifold the middle of next week. I did print off the directions from one of the links above. So is there any special modifying that needs to be done for the 2.3 TB and manifold to fit the 2.4 engine or is it pretty simple????

Oldsman 11-30-2005 08:48 PM

the ny-jbodies covers everthing pretty good.

PrImEtImE 11-30-2005 08:59 PM

hey, before I put the manifold in i'm going to clean it up with some degreaser and change the appearance a little bit. What color should I go with if I use a high temp paint??? i'm thinking black or just go over it with some gray??? not sure ideas would be appreciated.....my car is all black exterior and tan leather interior....if not paint what else should I do?
