Hit a dear :(

Two weeks ago heading back to Sarnia, a small deer bolted out on the highway and clipped my passenger side front end... Luckily my fiancé and I are ok and the damage appears minimal... She drove perfectly for about 30-40km before dying... No idea why it cut off, but in leaning towards the external crank sensor because it's on that side and I can still smell fuel when it's cranking. Gonna do an actual fuel pressure check at the rail to verify its holding good pressure.

Here's some pics:

Looks like I won't be seeing the track this year :(

Ouch man! Glad you two are ok.... you going through insurance or just going to source replacement parts? Up til a couple weeks ago i could have sold you a parts car!

Are you going to rip it apart and do that 5 speed swap at this point?

Gonna rebuild for sure. 5 speed is still on the table, but it might have to be pushed back until the ho runs again and is all fixed up. A parts car definitely would have been awesome lol.

I have no idea what caused the car to cut off that night... Just tried starting her up and it backfired though the intake(I think). Had some smoke coming out of the intake.. Im guessing it's flooded with gas. Fuel pressure is reading a steady 50 PSI and coil packs seem to be arcing.

I just pulled the spark plugs(little more smoke coming out) and cranked it for a 10 seconds to try to get the gasoline out. Gonna leave it over night and hope most of the fuel evaporates. I tried scanning for codes and I have nothing to go on at this point unfortunately.

Atleast you arent like most people who give up on the car at this point...

Redog 07-06-2015 06:32 PM

Glad you are OK and that the car will live again :coolio:

Definitely not. Too much time and effort put into making her quick and I didn't even get to do one 1/4 mile pass.

What happened to your GA?

bdyman 07-08-2015 10:32 PM

Totaled
Part it out sell what you can
You have about 2-3,000 in damage
I won't go into detail
So my professional advice

Oldsman 07-08-2015 11:27 PM

Good luck with rebuild......however if you claim on insurance and you have 2-3K worth of damage the insurance will total it. This what bdyman was trying say.

fisdad 07-09-2015 03:24 AM

Sorry bout the car, but I've seen worse for sure. Glad to hear that you're all okay. At least you didn't go all out on a telephone pole like papa did. ;)

Shiwnath 07-09-2015 11:32 AM

Anyways, thanks for the opinion bdyman. It's just an Alero to everyone else, but to me it's my Alero. My Alero that I put in a lot of time and effort into.. I know the price to continue to play, I'm still gonna fix it. It's not gonna happen over night and it may take a year or two, but it will see the road again. I've seen worse put back onto the road.
