Suspension Q

KYB Gr2 struts. HR springs

I let them settle for a lil bit and got an alignment. I was told I need a camber kit, because my rears are really bad. I can't atm, so I just got the toe out fixed and let the camber go.

I get the spec sheet and I'm -0.7 on the driver's rear. and -1.2 on the passanger.

I thought we didn't need camber kits on our cars?? Also... I didn't think to tell them that I have strut tower bars on there.... I suppose that could be making a difference too? (in being able to align them properly)

A stb shouldn't make a difference with the alignment...as long as they fit right and aren't stressing the towers. They should be relaxed when the car is at rest. What is the manufacturer's spec and tolerance for the rear camber?

totally lost me there.

I am shockingly ignorant when it comes to suspension work. (including parts and terminology)

 What's the rear camber supposed to be? It should say on your spec sheet in the same area where it shows your current readings. If you can post a pic of the printout, I can tell you if it's anything to be concerned about.

I know the eibach kits you don't need the camber kits and no you don't need to let them know you have the strut bars on the car doesn't do anything for the alignment. the k&r sits lower maybe you do need it on those

it definitely doesn't say on the spec sheet. it just lists left/right front/back camber and what the current toe inch variants are... in the same respect.

only current spec, not "supposed" specs.

due to the rear pass camber being 1.2, the rear pass also has a .30" toe in

SIUlero 09-10-2011 04:43 PM

If the chart I'm looking at is right, the spec range is +.3* to -.7* for rear camber, and -.01" to +.07" for toe. So it sounds like it is out by quite a bit, most likely not from lowering though, or both sides would be out. You should check to make sure everything is straight...one of the lateral links might be bent. If it all checks out, go to O'Reilly and get a cam-bolt style camber kit for it...they're not expensive ($15-20). You can put it in yourself and then take it back for re-alignment.

for cam-bolts... don't you just remove one of the lower strut bolts and replace with the camber bolt? and do you have to do all 4 tires?

only rear camber bolts are needed, replace the upper bolts and they are not very expensive, look on summitracing.com .

a.graham52 09-10-2011 09:51 PM

FIXED :emotlol:

When I got my Eibach's, many years ago, I bought the camber adjust bolts. They suggested 1 kit (one set of bolts) for Eibachs which lower the car 1.2 inches and 2 kits for any kit you buy that lowers the car 2 inches or more.

I bought all this from PFYC.com
