Poor Alero

Well it happened. My Alero overheated. Turned out to be bad headgaskets. To add to that awesome fix both of my heads failed the pressure test. The front head is cracked in between the spark plug and the exhaust valve on 1 cylinder. The back head is cracked in the same spot on all 3. None the less she will be getting a new set of heads. I am hoping this was the only reason why she was throwing coolent out of the overflow.

[ion] C2 05-05-2014 07:39 AM

it's definitely the reason coolant was coming out the overflow

Did you do the LIMG while your in there? The 3400 are notorious for issues with that as well. when that goes it'll create a whole new set of problems, and terrible overheating.

sleepyalero 05-05-2014 08:41 AM

sucks to hear, atleast you arent junking the car.

Kalimaze 05-05-2014 08:54 AM

Yes the gasket kit I am buying comes with the metal LIMG's not the plastic ones. I do not think i will ever be able to junk the car. I love the body lines and the front end look too much.
