My brother just got a Jeep grand cherokee lordedo the other day, and He got the amps the HU and the speakers, but no sub box, WE weren't sure which would be best, Unlike our cars, we have a rear seat that the bass has to penatrate, the jeep has nothing, The box will pretty much just sit there. What tyupe of enclosure would work best for just all around, tight bass, vented? sealed? bandpass? Mind you my bro is into hip hop and only listens to that and r & b. so what would be the best suggestion..
sealed has cleaner tighter bass, in my opinion
mostly hip hop and R&B I would use a ported box tuned to about 32 Hz.
Depends on the equipment your using... Generaly sealed with more power is cleaner for ALL music, where as ported is better with rap/hip hop
i've found bandpass to put out the most bass at lower wattages, but best case IMO is sealed to speaker specs with good power.
bandpasses get loud but they have a very limited frequency range
bandpass and ported are more efficant then ported...
yea, bandpass is the "bass for cheap" option

that really doesn't make any sense |
it all depends on what subs you are using, the amount of space you are willing to give up and the amount of power you are running to them...tell us what ur running and we can help ya figure it out...
To add to this...I also heard that bandpass enclosures also have a greater ability to hide distortion coming from the speaker, therefore you run the risk of blowing your speaker prematurely...that's my understanding anyway.

Your right. |
Well, we are running, a two 12" xplode subs (yuk) but they hit alright in the enlosures we have, but we want a good thick tight sound...also..running a single soundstream xta880.2
