Ok, buddy called me on his wife's alero, not sure of the problem other than the car won't move from the park position......
any suggestions? is there a brake sensor to shift? anything? |
I know this worked with a 1989 GMC S15 at work. The shifter would get stuck and the motor would rev when you try to shift out of park, but if you rocked it a bit with the brake off, it would pop out of park
|
well its the shift interlock...not sure where it is or how to fix it, but thats what is wrong more than likely
|
you kno.. when i was putting in my aftermarket shift knob, i had to put it just right so it wouldnt put pressure on the button, but would still engage it enough when pushed down. Maybe something is just wrong with the knob? My stock one has broken on me.. at least 3 times. soo maybe they should pop it off and try just pushing on it then..
i dunno =/ it could be somehting minor like that. |
the shifter interlock is located next to the shifter. on the driver side. it is a black plastic solenoid and if it comes off it will not allow you to shift out or in to park.
so pop off the shifter knob and then the plastic around shifter and you will see it. it clips on to the shifter. |
when i drove my civic this once happened... my horn fuse died.. i replaced it and it worked fine
