MEh, damn engine is givin issues

well, after coming home from seeing my brother in the hospital, i was beating the shizz outts the satty, got home and noticed lifter tick, it usually has lifter tick, but it was LOUD! so, i left her runnin, and revved the engine a bit, and heard what sounded like a faint coins in a rubber can, it was sorta this gurglin sound, but it sounded like the rod bearing is goin out....i need help plz! i dont have the moniez for a rebuild, an dmy moms old escort and the old alero are on their last legs....

plz, wtf does this mean?

Midgear 10-07-2008 12:53 AM

it means you beat the shit out of it to much.

rustyballs_69 10-07-2008 01:15 AM

It means that $27 an hour welding job you got aint paying enough.

CactusWill 10-07-2008 05:11 AM

It might be too late, but just in case it isn't, I can tell you that the original saturn engines are real harsh on oil. 3k is too long an interval, the oil is trashed by then, 2k is a more realistic number. So go get yourself 4 qts of the freshness and see if that helps.

99-alero 10-07-2008 06:48 AM

hell if i was making $27 an hour i'd rebuild the motor for the hell of it lol, wat do u do with all your money?

Gr1m 10-07-2008 07:40 AM

how does quitting mcdonalds effect your wage at another job?

Gr1m 10-07-2008 08:19 AM

i just dont see how you could be making money if you insure 4 cars at the same time and drive them around daily

^you can't add your wages, hourly, unless your working all those jobs at the exact same moment. thats just basic math rules.

Ryan from Ohio 10-07-2008 08:41 AM

Is it dual overhead cams? The Saturns are notorious for the timing belt. I had an Sl2 which I did a ton of work on and still got rid of it... lol

I've had two sohc saturn sl1's, and I'm fairly certain that engine contains a chain not a belt. The lubricity of the oil would still play a role in the prevention of failure, but I think your real problem lies elsewhere, due to thrashed saturn oil as I call it or you dogging it at high rpms. Or a combination of both.

rustyballs_69 10-07-2008 05:39 PM

pssssht ok! lets see your alero get damn near 50 MPG! and it needed oil, the shop didint put enough in(im not leaking anything) ok? so every other car is a POS to you because its not an alero? i mean, its a GM at least it isint a ford or an import!

rustyballs_69 10-08-2008 01:54 AM

It means that you spent money at a shop that didn't put enough oil in when you should have changed your oil yourself, saved money, and known that oil level was good before you beating the shizz outts of it.
