If I get 18x8 rims what amount of drop should I put on without it rubbing. I was thinking maybe 2- 2.5. Also will I be fine with the 18x8 because I know that 18x7 fits fine. Phantomforce said it will be fine with 40 series tires but im just making sure.

i had 18X8 wheels, with a 225/40/ZR18 tire and no rubbing with sprints...after settling, i got about 2.75" drop and was fine..

Do you have any pics of it ? I wanna see how it looks with 18's and 2.75 drop

And you doubted me Menace. j/k I would have gotten a second opinion as well.

ptrudel 10-07-2005 10:06 AM

not the best, but you can see here with my old rims...

Never doubted you just wanted second opinion before I blew my money on it.

Ive heard since sprint and springtech lower it so much it rattles on bumps, But intrax dont, the only bad thing is that intrax said its for a 00 to 04 alero and i have a 99, but im thinkin im gunna go with the suspentionmax ones would the intrax work?

turtles_ride 10-07-2005 07:28 PM

youngblood said he regrets the intrax because its such a harsh ride. I have the eibachs which are a progressive spring, they don't drop quite as much but they still give an excellent ride with it being noticably lower. i have 225/18/8's(i think they're 8s), they tried the 235s or 245 but they touched the spring without spacers.

i've got the sprints, and i LOVE 'em...i'm sad that i have to get rid of 'em...not cuz they suck tho, just cuz i need cash fast...its harsher then stock, but its still comfy to ride in :)

you need about 1.5-2 in of clearance above the front tire so it wont rum on a turn and the backs wont rub even if tucked all the way up in the wheel well.
