Alaska? Anyone

AM I the only one in Alaska with an alero?

AZFire316 04-23-2011 06:00 PM

highly doubt it, maybe the only one on this board with one, but im sure there are several up there! how do you like living in AK? Ive been to Anchorage a couple of times, didnt seem so bad

the_weber 04-23-2011 06:04 PM

Anchorage blows lol. Whats the point of living in alaska if your going to live in a Large City (by our standards anyways). I love soldotna/kenai peninsula. Grew up here. No where else I would rather be.

AZFire316 04-23-2011 06:12 PM

Look at where I live dude? lol Las Vegas NV, one of the busiest cities in the world, I love the city life, when I was in Anchorage I thought it was dead there lol

the_weber 04-23-2011 06:20 PM

Lol exactly why it sucks. Its not a big city so theres nothing to do but its not a small town so theres too many damn people

AZFire316 04-23-2011 06:25 PM

Also, I dont think id ever want to live in Alaska, Im from Albany NY, and in the winters they throw down salt to melt the ice/snow and it eats up the cars. I dont have to worry about that here.

the_weber 04-23-2011 06:30 PM

It will if you dont take care of it here. The car will be fine. But NEVER EVER EVER EVER put your 2000 dollar set of rims on during the winter. The corrode like hell (unless you insanley meticulous on the cleaning.)

AZFire316 04-23-2011 06:35 PM

yeah, I remember winters in NY, hell i bought a different pos car to drive in the winter, 91 chevy cavalier, that thing was rusted to hell.

the_weber 04-23-2011 06:37 PM

I think its the amount of salt they put on the roads. Here its not so bad. Just a little sand and salt. Just gotta watch your rims. I personally have never had a problem.

AZFire316 04-23-2011 06:41 PM

in NY, it seems theres more salt on the road than snow...

the_weber 04-24-2011 09:06 PM

Well were also a lot better equipped for winter driving here.

spc2125 04-24-2011 10:26 PM

I saw "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock and they go to Alaska.
Not a bad place, except for the always being light/dark.

the_weber 04-25-2011 12:05 AM

Lol thats a myth by the way. Its the same here as it is anywhere else int he lower 48. Up north it gets like that but where people actually live (the peninsula, southeast alaska) it doesn't do that. Also that movie was shot in canada haha. But its a great place

TheEdgeofSanity 04-25-2011 12:28 AM

so do you park in an igloo instead of a garage? haha

AZFire316 04-25-2011 01:19 AM

I was gonna say, when I was in Anchorage I remember night and day, not just day and just night.

yes. and I get internet by running an extension cord to canada. I also ride polar bears to school, my igloo is hot pink, and the reason I have an alero is to keep warm.

AZFire316 04-25-2011 01:35 AM

them polar bears get good mileage though.

AZFire316 04-25-2011 01:42 AM

lol honestly guys he lives like 2 hours SW of Anchorage not up near the arctic circle

spc2125 04-25-2011 01:31 PM

So how many reindeer do you have?

widbyj 04-25-2011 02:22 PM

Welcome! I have family in Soldotna and was married on Caribou Island in Skilak Lake. Really do want to return to Alaska for a visit and do some 'tourist' stuff, while I lived there we could never afford to get off the road and see the real country. Make sure to see all you can and smoke some of them big fish!
