DOHC_tuner ALL MOTOR update

Well after blowing up my previous motor(it was just a valve leak)

In the process of fixing her up I seem to always want to upgrade while I got the motor under the knife:p

I planned for boost thus why I have low comp. pistons but I cant seem to get away from adding more Quad 4 parts. So my addiction has led to this.

High Output Camshafts...still looking for W41 cams

086 SS Valves....with swirl polish

The REAL 2.4L Twin Cam ARP HEAD STUDS!!!

Carbon fiber coolant cover....(from Scott's 209+hp Quad 4)

A freshly made 086 head!

small exhaust ports....I will gasket match them by porting all day!

Dam what cams do this?

Dual gauge pod

And my wrench monkey.....little hairy the helper!:p

AftermathAlero 03-06-2009 10:09 PM

Nice. Can I borrow the monkey when ur done?

DOHC_tuner 03-06-2009 10:27 PM

;) sure but first he will need to help my install your tower brace once I get my hands on it!

NickAlero2000 03-06-2009 11:30 PM

Nice, can't wait to finally see it boosted!

XanderWiFi 03-06-2009 11:34 PM

Wow...this is so beyond me...so much to learn lol

DOHC_tuner 03-06-2009 11:47 PM

I understand...not alot of post since not many here understand certain specs of engine building....

All i can say is its fun to learn...and if anyone needs help I'll be more than happy to help.

Heres a pic of what she looks like with the swap....(except the head)

OH...and how could I forget this

$$$$

wait what who was "scotts 209 + hp quad 4" ????

how do you get 209 hp out of a "built NA 2.4" and then ion turns around and lays 160whp on a supercharged built motor? i dont get it sorry

[ion] C2 03-08-2009 07:25 PM

easy, dyno's are not accurate measures of power output.

but since you're interested as to why even on a Mustang dyno my numbers were ridiculous: my air filter was clogged, IATs were 160+, no meth, dyno pull was done in 2nd gear, was not spark tuned, etc.

-Alero- 03-08-2009 07:46 PM

right i understand they arent 100% accurate and you might had factors against you, but if we are talking about oldsman scott here, i must of missed his dyno thread, or 209 is a estimated crank hp

Heres a link to scotts Quad 4...and its NOT a 2.4L....its an LG0 2.3L with a 2.4L crank.

Ion just needs a good tune...he'll get there. Plus a supercharger with meth makes wonders so we all hope to see betters numbers from him.

[ion] C2 03-08-2009 08:08 PM

i'll be having a much bigger supercharger, meth, phenolic spacer, etc.

i don't give a flying eff about what XX dyno says i make, it's ALL about the 1/4 mile time

my fault i thought we were talking about oldsman scott not j body scott : / oops

DOHC_tuner 03-15-2009 10:48 PM

Building a hybrid is a bitch but its fun;) Now its all up to the quality the machine shop did on the valve reliefs...of coarse I'll turn the engine by hand to double check clearance.

Well I got the wiesco pistons with custom valve reliefs in. ARP head stud in.

086 head modified to fit the Twin Cam...the trick is to dip the drill in oil and drill small holes to out line the shape.

OBX header ready for the Quad exhaust flange.

the LD9 has just been around longer, and the prices for LD9 aftermarket parts are coming down because the cars that have it are getting cheaper. In about 3 years, I can almost guarantee that there will be plenty of ECO Aleros getting power. (even though there are already at least a few)

Like right now I only have a new header and exhaust I'm looking at other options like an Eaton supercharger but also thinking about changing my pully or cams first.
