costs of supercharger installation/tuning

if i gather the parts for the m62 supercharger kit

what are ballpark figures for the installation

and the custom tuning?

is there any way to install it so that i can drive it to my mechanics? read somewhere that you just have to ziptie open part of the blower>

so far ive got half the major pieces, but want to take my time and save $.

vic28 if you want to let me know which of the many pieces you didn
t need to install, please pm me or email

thanks!

assuming this is for the 2.4?

More chance that it is for an ecotec... the m62 is the supercharger on the cobalt ss the one for the 2.4 is the m45... And for the tuning get someone that has a hptuner to tune it... the part that you want to zip tie open if you have it installed and not programmed is the boost bypass solenoid that is located on the supercharger, it is the black vacuum actuator...

for the 2.2

Gui got it right. By disabling the bypass actuator no boost will be applied to the engine so it will run like normal. Once a tune is setup you'll be able to run boosted. A key item is to have a functional 2 Bar MAP sensor so the engine can sense the pressure, this will have to be changed AFTER you get it to the tuner as it will read improperly for a normal tune.

Might have been wise to start with the full GM kit as it included injectors, sensors and access to a GM tune (which isn't great but does work). I went this route and even without using the HPTuner yet the results have been very good.

There is no GM tune its only for the 2.4, so dont think you are going to be able to drive to the Dealer and get it done. Its not just hold the actuator open, How its gonna be normal to drive with bigger injector..., basicly gonna run like crap and rich but MAYBE do-able I wouldnt drive to far. If you talk to your tuner, ask em if they are familiar with tuning alpha-n with boost. The MAP sensor on the ecotec computer just controls timing not fuel. The 2.4l guys are lucky that the GM reflash converts their alpha-n to a Speed density. Theres a lot of performance parts but the PCM its our downside.
