Hi everyone, I'm new to the site here and this is my first post.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their starter. The problem I am having only occurs when the engine is cold. Basically its making a noise like it will make when your car is running and you try to start it again. When my engine is warm it will start fine. My bumper to bumper warranty expired 2 weeks ago so needless to say I was a little pissed. After speaking to my dealership they agreed to give me a goodwill warranty repair since my Alro is still under 60,000 km's

But they have to be able to reproduce the problem but since the engine is warm when I take it there, it won't happen. Left the car their last night and found out this morning that they stored it indoors overnight because thats their "policy" to test vehicles at room temp. Thats a load of bull**** if you ask me. Anyways enough ranting on my part. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem with their starter. Might be able to use it to show the dealership.

Thanks for your help guys.

P.S. Had the Alero for over 3 years now, absolutely love it, this is the first problem I have had with it. I'll get some pics posted of it when I get a chance.

Hmm, thats interesting...
I'd say that the starter is definately on its way out.

Stupid dealerships suck. They wont take your word for anything.
I'd just get madder, and talk to someone in charge.

Good Luck!

Yeah this dealership is really pissing me off. I already talked with the Service Manager and he gave me the same load of bull. The dealership I bought the car from is about an hour away from where I live and it's owned by a family friend. I am waiting for a call back within the hour about the car so if nothing gets done looks like I'll have to drive out to the dealer I bought it from cause I know they will fix it for me there for sure.

I guess the only good to come out of this is that GM is going to replace it for free even though the 3 year warranty has expired. Well after some persistance on my part anyways!! HA
