Hey guys, I own a 2000 Alero 2.4L 4cyl Twin Cam, and its an automatic, I love the car to death, but I hate the transmition. So it's iether a new transmission, or a new car, if anyone knows where I can get a 5-spd transmission for a good price, please let me know, or if you wana buy it.

check your local junk yards

Thanx man, and now that I think about it, won't it be a pain in the ass to install? Or to get it installed? Do you guys think it would be worth it, or just get a new car?

at least its avcailable for your engine
I"m converting my V6 to a manual
now thats a pain.
on yours all the parts are available
of course you could just look for a manual alero

Find a wrecked 2.4L 5-speed in a junk yard (one that was wrecked in the back, of course) and take the entire front clip of the car and just replace yours with that one, it's actually more simple than taking out the engine, tranny, halfshafts, mounts, PCM etc etc etc...

riiight .
then you have a wiring nightmere, fuel lines brake line and all that crap to deal with
manual conversions arent as bad as changing a front clip

Well you'll sort of have a wiring nightmare anyways having to get the wires for the manual tranny instead of the automatic, and the PCM for the manual... and fuel lines and brake lines have to be move out of the way anyways if you're pulling the engine out... I've just heard it's a lot easier to drop an engine/tranny down through an n- or j-body than it is to lift it out...

not worth it in my opinion.....just fix up the one you have.....after the money time and effort you put into doing it...you could make your auto faster.
