coolant drain plug
i was needing to know where the coolant drain plug is on the ecotec
I dont know, have you checked under the radiator? That's where Ive seen it on other cars.
all alero's are on the driver's side, its either a green or white plug
Little white plastic plug with an allen hole on the driver's side lower end of the radiator.
You put the allen wrench in, turn counterclockwise about 90 degrees, and pull the plug outward toward the front of the vehicle, and then coolant will drain from the bottom of the radiator out a hole underneath the white plug. I just did this today. |
or he could have the wingnut
There's also a drain plug for the engine block too.. I think it's back by the water pump.
This may help...............

First Sorry! for this old thread but used the search button & saw this thread... Got the exact same plug & i am using a wrench + extension & turn the valve 1/4 tun (counterclockwise) than tried to pull the plug but it doesn't move even tried with plyers so i am stock can't drain the radiator I don't want to pull out the lower hose because that is messy & 90% of the time you'll have to replace the hose because it will leak even with a new clips hose... Anyhow any tips for the valve plug? Thx! |
you have to turn the plug just right so this little metal peice can slide out. you should be able to see it when you turn it correctly. then you have to like wiggle the plug while you pull and it should come right out.

im about to hit 150k and thats the recommended time to flush ur coolant
yet another summer project...i think part of the reason that my temp keeps going above half even in fairly low temperatures is that the hoses need replaced...i also need a new serpentine belt because mine is cracking, i am not looking forward to undoing the motor mount in order to change a belt though

I know this isnt the coolant line, but i was wondering what it was? (the black top closest to the hood, below yellow oil dipstick) |
that is the a/c line and there is a fitting under the black cap to refill the a/c. i forget the proper name for it.
does anybody want to take a picture of where the coolant plug is?
that black cap one is the high pressure line the one used to fill it is by the fire wall with a blue cap
