or just cut out your cat altogether :-) I did and I'm satisfied

cherrington17 02-17-2009 09:28 PM

cutting cat = horrible performance.

DON'T LISTEN TO HIM

Misuseofyou 02-17-2009 09:32 PM

Tell us more Cherrington.

I was going to buy a 'performance' cat recently but people in the know at work told me its a gimmick. The huge difference the OP felt is likely due to his former cat being clogged, causing his engine to choke on its own fumes. Mine wasn't that bad and when I changed it out it was like driving a different car.

Noticed it with your ass dyno no doubt.

PS Louder is not the same as faster

You're the genius who took a stick and bashed the insides of your cat out, and you JUST said it roars now.

forgive him, for i think he's had a few drinks by this time of evening

Vinalero 02-17-2009 10:54 PM

If by cutting Cat you mean removing it and replacing with a pipe of same diameter, well you will get more performance than with the stock Cat.

However, your car becomes illegal and with all the testing that was done on dynos about the "High flow cat" VS "Cat delete" it was shown very few difference btw the two, lets say .2 hp difference.

Misuseofyou 02-17-2009 10:54 PM

Well heres to that at least. :drink:

Vinalero What do you say abt the universal cat vs 'high flow'?

I wouldn't say that the max power is hugely affected, but the midrange mos def is.
