Hey, I wanted to try somthing i havent seen.. or atleast not on a Alero other than on a white or black one.. So i tried it in red. What do you guys think ?
The pics are pretty crappy there off phone.. ill post better pics tmrw |
the light in my garage is yellow so it makes my car look orange.. but the two paints match

^ i saw that pic awhile back ago seeing the red reflection on the tinted tails actually gave me my idea  the chance of you posting it up as a reply jus blew my mind
ill post a pic of my tail light mod tomorrow :scpimp:
another example of how it can look too.
^ damn someone else did it already... i have been foiled again in my attempt to do something different
I like it!
thats just the reflective part left untinted, I didn't body paint it like yours

hmm you should have gone all the way around the light or atleast all along the bottom.. but its what you like;) |
bmxer...you should wire up your inside tails to act with the brake lights as well, takes 2 minutes and looks much better.
gr1m I had them that way and the wires fell out so i will eventually wire them all back up again and motor city i will get some small ones to go along the bottom of the trunk lights
^that will look alot better
That's a sweet mod bmxer! Nice job!
Inside tails as brake light also makes it bright as hell lol had that on mine

How are the strips glowing so much? Did you use a flash? It would look awesome if our tails actually lit up that way. |
you just tape off the strips before doing it, really not that hard just takes a little bit of patiences. took me longer to do that then tinting my tails
ok thats what i though, cuz i dont want to copy what you did, i was thinking the reflector strips that are around the lights and the one you taped off, you think that would look nice, or just odd?
honestly I thought of it too but I thought it would look odd, don't worry its ok to copy its not a math test :P
i too have done the same kind of i put a strip on the red and painted the rest black
i did exactly how the pic was up top

How do you go about doing this? |
probably wire it up to your 3rd brake light. I should do that

yes there is an empty pin hole on the trunk mounted bulb socket. i took a piece of wire and stripped the casing back about 2 inches, folded it, and stuck it in the pin hole. then i just used some silicone to keep the wire in place. after that you just run the two wires to the power wire for the third brake light, tap into it and done. you have to change the bulb to a 3157 though because it obviously needs to be a dual filament. |

I'm not quite understanding this part |

ya got a pic by chance? |
what gauge of wire did you use?
I think autozone sells 16ga that might be good enough
yes its pretty thin, i would recommend using hot glue rather then silicone as previously mentioned, the cure time for silicone is way too long for that job.

i agree hot glue would be faster. reason i used silicone was my car was going to be sitting for a few days and i figured the silicone would last longer. |
