3800 swap

Alright stary by sayimg im on my phone and dont have the patience to searh this.

Okay i need (in detail ) to know what is required for and to do, a 3800 sc swap. What work is involved ? Any weldimg or cutting ? How long can i expect my car to be under the knife ? What is the average total cost of this project ? Any other information that will help me start gathering parts?. I would like to be the first and only pwrson with a 3800 sc alero in new york state. Fairly positive no one around here even has the balls to try this swap. My goal is simply to have it done and running and to be my daily driver until i can afford upgrades. Thank you to anyone who helps , you will go on my thank you list that will be etched into the bottom of my hood upon completion

Guiguilandy would be the best to ask. From what I know though it fits.... but barely. Like 3 cm barely. And you may have to hammer some stuff outta the way. Its pricy though everything needs rewired. But the 3800 motor is a beast

imo the 3800 swap isnt worth it. search a motor swap thread by fisdad, he gives info in there.

It's super easy, it bolts right up no tuning required no need to swap ecu or wiring harness, takes about 2 hours to do......:rolleyes2: or you could search :/

Hahahah I wish the post above me was true. Then the Northstar would only take 5 hours including fixing the headgaskets!

Someone's done it with a Cavalier.... you can see it on the J body forum. I know with the right person, time and money it can be done... the question is "is it worth it?"

The power is nice, but you could also build on the platform you already as well.

guiguilandry 06-03-2013 09:06 AM

Northstar is nice as is... but no aftermarket at all... the 3800 have a LOT of aftermarket and are pretty easy to go past 350hp

Redog 06-03-2013 01:30 PM

For the money and time, you could build the 3400, and have more power
