yea it figures by the time the doors start rollin together somethins gotta break..
not really sure what im gonna do at this point. hopefully it can be fixed with a small piece of tinsel. other wise im just gonna have some serious mids for while |
just picked up the amp to power the doors
does any1 know where to buy these little gold screws to screw in the speaker with? also the american bass 6.5s came with no instructions/wires of any kind so i need to pick up some wire to attach to the terminals (picture 2) where do you purchase these for the low? |
ok if anyone needs to replace the screws on an old amp, these screws are mad cheap. ordered 3 sets of 4 for $3 and 50 3/16" female quick connects for 2.50

Those same parts are available at Autozone.... Personally I solder any wire that may be shaken.

im sure they are, but for $1 a piece?! or $0.05 per quick connect? i dunno bout all that |
I would highly advise soldering the wires to the speakers. Make a bundle somewhere and use a set of bullet quick disconnects there.
|
i agree with soldering, i did the same thing on my speakers

ill probly just end up soldering the wires to them, i didnt even think to do that. derr also the speakers dont have any kind of labeling as to which side is positive and which is negative. both are 3/16". ive heard about connecting it to a AA battery but theres still a small possibility to damage the speaker. any other ways to find this out? |
What speakers have the same ends?
Run a phase test with them hooked up. I can email you the test if need be. |

the sq-65CBs. the pic on the website shows the one on the left as red, which im gonna assume is the power one. |
speaker baffles got cut. first door got cut. ended up getting late so more will be done tomorrow
giving some headroom w. the vinyl cut baffle cut door |
you have no idea what your getting yourself into lol
|
it might appear that way from the basic shots but its really a lot more in depth
|
Im with Grim.
What your about to do is create yourself one hell of a nightmare. The work involved in sanding that bish out will kill a person. Your gonna have to glass the hole thing to. If you think just the pod area you are wrong. Unless you find a way to attached it with fasteners. Mine looked good for most the summer. Until the glass broke free from the door panel... |
how are you getting around the problem of the window? it comes down right where speaker 2 and 3 are?
the fiberglass forums have a thread on an interesting way to glass TNUT fasterners into the mold, so you can bolt it into place. |
its being wrapped with vinyl. bunch of 1" blocks around it to keep it on the same plane
|
yep ur gonna have to glass the entire panel, and ontop of that, you will probably have to invert the speakers and then it will be very uncomfortable for the passengers in your car, judging by the amount that the baffleboard sticks out from the panel.
|
those photos were just to show the cut panels. almost everything has been considered and will be delt with. i just set the baffle on top of the panel lol
