Project, fix a ho

So, now that I'm finally getting some income in, I'm going to start working on fixing up the car. First on my list of things to do is this:

- Replace tweeters and the pods they go in
- Replace fog lights with new LED fog lights
- Clean interior up
- Fix headliner

Just a few items. I'll get pics up of the LED fog lights when I get them. I also have plans to replace the headlights. They are getting really fogged up, and I can't get them to clear up.

I'll be getting HID lights from Ryan, and installing them once I get the new headlights. I'll be clearing them and painting the bezels.

Also, anybody know of a good place to get fabric to redo the interior? Once I get things cleaned up, I'd like to do my interior the correct way. :p

Idk about roof liners, but for carpeting go here

robalero 08-02-2010 08:16 PM

roof liner? aka wal-mart and spray on 3m glue for fabric.

I don't know the process of it but a buddy of mine does who did it to his saturn Ion

So, for my gauge lights, I decided to do the pre-wired LED's that I bought. I'm going to be taking the 194 Bulbs out and melting the insides of the plastic pieces that connect to the circuit board. I'm doing this because the housing for the LED bulb is a little big to fit in it, so by melting it down, I can get them to fit snug in them. I'll be wiring the 5 LEDs together and running to a plug I'll be picking up from Walmart. I'm just getting a cheap speaker plug and using that (so if I need to take the gauge out again, I can just unplug the LEDs instead of removing wires... I'll be working on this during the weekend hopefully, and I'll post pics up as I work on it.

So I installed the fog lights in today. Not to impressed with them... They are not long enough to actually get all the LEDs in the housing, so the illumination isn't to spectacular.... It's not enough to really do any good except maybe look a little cooler... So, for now, I'm just going to leave them in there. I'll get pics of it tomorrow night, but here's what they look like...

These actually don't do anything do they? Thought they were mostly for looks. But dunno

scott192 08-07-2010 07:53 AM

I think they would do a little better if they actually fit all the way in there like they are suppose to... They come up a little short so only a few LEDs show up. It's not very bright at all. It is mostly for looks. I've never used them, so I was curious enough to invest in a pair and see how they looked. It's not BAD, but they are pretty much useless as working fog lights.

cavaliers60 08-08-2010 06:49 AM

Here's a shot of the LED lights in action. They look pretty decent, just not bright enough to do any good.

pimpalero2003 08-08-2010 02:03 PM

That's what I thought look nice though. Maybe order some hids through ddm. And then get 1w or higher LEDs for park and turn lights would match hids very nicely

The LED 3157's will give ya hyper flash...

pimpalero2003 08-08-2010 06:50 PM

All you need is a load regulator think that's what there called. With the 1watt or higher wedge bulbs I don't know

cavaliers60 08-08-2010 07:13 PM

I'm happy with my silverstar turn signal bulbs. As for the fog lights, I ordered a different set of fog lights. I'm keeping these in for now though.... They shine pretty well, just not well enough to be useful. So they are doing alright. I ordered a set of HID lights from Ryan (just waiting for him to ship them). Can't wait to get those in. :D

NoSweat83 08-08-2010 08:47 PM

Sounds good. I have led 3157's in my head's and tail's and they hyperflash. Was thinking of putting a resistor in line with the bulb to cure the prob until you said load regulator.... Info?
P.S. Sorry for thread jackin.

pimpalero2003 08-08-2010 11:07 PM
