04 Alero,2.2 coolant leaking

I have an 04 Alero with the 2.2 4 cyl. There is coolant coming from the overflow tank. I replaced he cap with no success. So I replaced the overlow tank and cap with no success. The engine does not run hot, the overflow tank light comes on sometimes while driving, but normally it leaks out the overflow after you shut the car down. Any help would be appreciated.

there is probably to much in it. ive had it happen. (atleast if its leaking out of the drain tube) there is a "cold" mark on the front of the tank where your supposed to fill it at. any higher when it gets hot it usually boils over.

imo if it IS leaking out of the over flow tube i would let it drain, watch it for a few days and see what happens, usually its just to much coolant in the tank.

if your "low coolant" light is coming on, that usually means a bad coolant tank sensor.

I would think the same thing except the tank is almost empty and sometimes the low coolant light comes on while driving. The tank is low when ever the light comes on.

Bad hose going from radiator to tank? Got a coolant leak else where?

My 04 ecotec has a small coolant leak somewhere as well. So far it leaks pretty slowly and I only need to add fluid every month so it hasn't been fixed yet. It does however exhibit the same signs as yours. The coolant light will come on during acceleration or up a hill and then turn off; that is how I know it is starting to get low.

My bet is either in the radiator or a hose that isn't immediately visible

Texas, get that engine block tested for signs of combustion gases in the cooling system. Iv seen bad head gaskets blow coolant out like that.
