Taking the plunge

Okay so im just going to say screw my credit card and buy a starting turbo set-up. i know the basic things ill need:

Exhaust manifolds, turbo and housing, wastegate(if not on turbo), charge piping. and oil lines(dont know how much or what size though), and the down pipe of course.

is there anything else that i NEED? if i wanted to set everything up except for the down pipe(custom). would i need anything else?

And does the outlet on the turbo housing that attaches to the exhaust manifold change depending on the turbo? same with the down pipe... like if i were to get one turbo, could i simply upgrade by just swapping them? its not a big deal, just curious for future reference.

EDIT: bov and intercooler, haha forgot those 2

You'll need a blow off valve

An extra job to keep up with the credit card bills would help. Start looking now. Good luck!

Yeah, that sounds like a really stupid plan. Modding is not cheap, take care of the essentials first, then when you are in a good place financially you will be able to build something great.

i have 2 thousand dollars right now. is that enough to start this project or not?

Bad99Olds 11-11-2009 02:11 PM

2000aleroff 11-11-2009 02:16 PM

yes, ill be doing this on my own..a learning experience i guess =)

Bad99Olds 11-11-2009 02:20 PM

If you shop smart, that should be enough to get it going.

You should start by relocating the battery. That's fairly cheap and usually necessary. Then while you are planning the other stuff, get some 28 lb. Trailblazer injectors and install them. I have a 2001 PCM program that I use which may work in your car. If you are serious about this, I can find an extra PCM. That way, you can maintain drivability as you go along, one mod at a time.
