2.2 bolt on supercharger?

I just happened to run across this... http://www.andysautosport.com/pontia...r00043288.html I sent a message asking if I could get more detailed info.

also, here is another similar kit I'v had bookmarked for a while http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NA...0003/?rtype=10 + injectors to go with it http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-17803229

but they one at Andy's claims its a direct bolt on, everything included, it better be for that price.

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 06:11 AM

RSM = garbage
and that price is INSANE

the GM one is the one you want, but that price is also stupid, look around for it cheaper

I thought so, I knew there was some company through andys that people had a lot of trouble with, and in my email to them I ask is if "there is something special included for the price?" that kit you found looks awesome! none of my searches have turned up the best results. with that kit I think the only other things I'll need will be intercooler and cobalt stage 2 kit for injectors. thanks for the help

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 07:45 AM

andy's is just a reseller of these parts, i wouldn't ask a single question directed towards them, because they won't be able to answer it for you

that kit includes everything GM part number 17800003 includes.. ready to bolt on, including injectors, that would be stupid if it didn't include them

Papa Rad17 12-02-2011 08:34 AM

Oh, they weren't in the pic, or I'm going blind. Is an intercooler included? And so with that kit the only other thing I would need would be tuners right?

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 08:46 AM

the inside of the manifold has laminova cores, you need to hook up your own pump and hoses and heat exchanger if you wish to use the intercooling capabilities. the GM kit doesn't include that stuff.

look on www.j-body.org for information...

Papa Rad17 12-02-2011 12:01 PM

So theres no reason i couldn't drop in the supercharger then intercool later?

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 12:14 PM

right

Papa Rad17 12-02-2011 02:51 PM

Well, added that to my bookmarks... someday, someday soon. And with proper tuning I should be able to drop in the stage 2 or 3 kit after intercooling? Or would more motor upgrades need to take place in order to handle it properly?

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 03:18 PM

Not likely to need any engine upgrades strength-wise, but a port and polish always helps with power and efficiency.

You'll have to read on JBO regarding tuning. The one you get from GM is locked for editing, unless they've found a workaround since then..

Papa Rad17 12-02-2011 03:30 PM

I will be using hptuners. My uncle as well a local gm dealer are helping with that part when the time comes. I'll probably clean up and lightly over haul the engine when I drop in the supercharger then ad on the intercooler and stage 2 or 3 kit in another sweep. Also, I have plans for pasesetter headers and cat with a 2.25 set up. Would it be better to go up to a 2.5 with supercharging planned?

[ion] C2 12-02-2011 03:42 PM

yes to 2.5

of course you'll use HPTuners, but the tables in the stock tune only go up to 1 bar, so the tune doesn't read boost. if you use HPTuners off the bat you'll have to scale/fake a 2-bar tune using the supplied 2 bar sensor with the kit (which takes some very good knowledge of how the Ecotec tune handles things)

read on JBO to find out how people have handled higher boost/power levels than the default MP62 GM kit.. maybe talk to Vic28, he seems to go pretty quick with his gear.

Papa Rad17 12-02-2011 06:25 PM

Ya, iv caught him on a few threads before. When i actually have all the parts for it in front of me I'm sure I'll be destroying his inbox. As for the tune, the place that I'm taking it to has worked on other local cars using the hpt programs, and they did a damn good job

My intake manifolds and TB were from RSM, but I have since upgraded to WOT Tech stuff.

I've heard nothing but bad things about RSM. They changed their name a few years ago.

Papa Rad17 12-03-2011 12:59 AM

I'm defiantly going with the package C2 posted for me. then later upgrade to the stage 2 or 3 kit and add the intercooler.
also, I'll be getting the exhaust done some time before I'll be able to drop in the supercharger. with the 2.5" I wont be loosing to much back pressure until then will I? heres the headers http://www.andysautosport.com/oldsmo...s00034561.html and the cat http://www.andysautosport.com/oldsmo...s00000217.html of course with all 2 1/2 piping. then reuse my current muffler (flowmaster w/ 2.5 in/out) but I'll have them y it off to put on the quad tips.

my engine is the 2.2. 2.4 style headers will not fit. the same pacesetter ones on only a few dollars cheaper on ebay then andys and I have other stuff I want to order from so I'll just group it together. as for all the other exhaust components, having him just custom fit and weld it all together will be way cheaper.

JLw7123 12-03-2011 02:08 PM

The exhaust will fit i am pretty sure

Papa Rad17 12-03-2011 04:06 PM

not are far as I know... never once have I seen the same header listed for both engines either. I looked up some pics, they are similar but not quite the same.

JLw7123 12-03-2011 04:16 PM

get the Dynomax muffler some of the people with the 2.4 and 2.2 have them and they sound good.
