Installation notes, easy, hard, PITA: This was super easy to use. It was easy to apply, and easy to remove.

Any thoughts about the product: This product was really easy to use and buffed out some light haze there was in my drivers side headlamp. I also used it on my mom's car, and it worked as well. You can actually notice the difference as you polish the plastic.

I don't know if there are any long term effects from using this product, but Ill post later if something bad happens. Also, Ill take pics, if I find another yellowing plastic to try it on.

i tried it on my wifes van and didnt work worth a crap

There's a plastic repairing kit at Autozone that I used. It comes with a rubbing compound, three pads with 4 different sand paper types. Worked really well.

Well heres a pic. the headlight I used was really yellowed, so I used 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper on the whole light, then I used the polish on only half. Here are the results. btw its a cell phone pic.

It would be awesome if you could get that thing cleared out...to me that headlight lens looked more botched than a 3rd world vasectomy.

Well I took my passenger side headlight apart today thinking that the fogginess was inside because no matter what I did I couldn't get the outside clean. This did give me a chance to clean the bezels so it wasn't a wasted effort. Now this brings me to the product mentioned in this thread. I've had this stuff for a long time and have used it after a car wash and it has done the job, but today I used 2000 grit sand paper with soap water first and finished it off with 3 or 4 applications of Plastx and it looks very good. The pic above is a great representation of the results. This stuff is pretty damn good, but it can't do it by itself..you have to put the time and effort in in the beginning to get the finale results you want. I wish I had taken some before shots and after you guys would truly be amazed.

did you do it on the inside?

Nope only on the outside....and I would have put my check on it that it was on the inside but it wasn't. I started off on the inside in one corner with windex to prove to myself that it was on the inside...and it was definitely on the outside. After polishing though I did wipe the inside with a little windex but it was very clear before I even did that though. The most important part to me though is the 2000 grit wet sanding with soap...it really smooths out the surface imperfections. Then followed up with the polish to remove the slight marks from sanding.

bought some for my headlight the other day tried it didnt notice a difference. maybe i just didnt do it long enough.

Your going to need to wet sand with very very very fine sand paper...2000 to 2500 to remove the surface imperfections then follow up with the polish.

is it just me but i cant find that fine of sandpaper?

I found it in the automotive section at wal mart. It was next to the bondo and that kind of stuff.

will do have to stop and pick some up and give it a shot

I just tried this and it worked great! I took lonnie's advice and used the 2000 grit sand paper first and then use the Meguiars plastX. I was sceptical before I tried it and was surprised after. I spent about an hour on both head lights, and will continue to do it every time I wash and wax my car. Thanks for the info!

Anyone tried the 3M version?

ya the plastic polish works great I use nothing but Meguiars

I'm going to sand the next time and polish it to take out some spots I missed the first time (minor spots). After that I'll just polish.

The higher the grit you can find the better. They make 3000 for finishing too. May have to order...I haven't found it anywhere around here.
