Security light stays on after ignition switch replace
I just changed my ignition switch but the security light stays on but car starts fine. Light never went off did I not do it long enough? I did it a good 10 min, then tried it again for about 15 min. Do I need to wait 30 min?
I have a feeling if I go down the road it will shut down the car. Yes, No? Help please. |
Oh and my security light never blinked it just stayed on.

You need to do 10 mins a second less and it won't work. Turn the key of wait 5/10 seconds turn it back to the on position without cranking. If it goes off your good from there if not you need to cycle off after 10 more mins wait 10 seconds then back on. 30 seconds in the second time on my light went off but I've heard of it taking two full on cycles. Also there is wire that can by pass the chip but the light stays on.

Ive had mine stay on numerous times. Never shut down on me.
I just drive like its not on, eventually it turns off after a few cycles. |
Ok good to know. I did however forgot to unhook the battery when I installed the new switch, but last night I left the battery unhooked all night and tried it again. Still stays on.

Give it a few days. Should shut off on its own.

Yeah, it does not turn the car off, just stays lit.
Get a neverdone dual gauge cluster pod and you'll never see it again  :coolio: |
Mine came on and my car would not start until I got the light to go off.
|
If it was flashing, yes the car wont start.

Well, my daughter has been driving it for over a week light never went out. She also said sometimes has to try to start it several time before it starts. So I guess that didn't fix the problem.
Guess it's time to do the resister fix now. |
Hmm interesting.
