I am doing a paper for school and will need a few people to answer, why do you race?

MikeSS 09-02-2004 09:20 AM

What racing are you talking about? Drag or Circuit racing, you should get replies, but street racing doesn't happen here.

vanillaman 09-02-2004 09:28 AM

Drag then i guess if street racing doesn't happen.

Crolero 09-02-2004 10:07 AM

racing makes man and his machine together as one. The car feals you and knows whos sitting in that drivers seat. you know that car will respond the best she can for you. Its a relationship between the 2 why we race, wax, wash, polish, take pics, and have alermod.com

street racing happens around here...

bigd6983 09-02-2004 11:41 AM

its a major adrenaline rush, when you and another person are going at, seeing which one will prevail........and when you win i know I get this feeling like im ready to go again, its awesome.........

Unfortunately, it just happened near my house also:

Driver, 18, fatally injured in fiery street-racing crash

L.A. Daily News - Sep 02 12:23 AM
WOODLAND HILLS -- Just one day before his 19th birthday, a Van Nuys man was fatally injured during a street race early Wednesday when he lost control of his car, which slammed into a tree and ricocheted off two parked cars that burst into flames.

Hmm... you must be sadly disappointed then.

b-spot 09-02-2004 12:34 PM

Naw, cuz the guys with small wangs always buy porsches and smoke me. So everytime I lose, I know i'm bigger.

In other news.. i've gotta stop racing kia's <_<

shortstar 09-02-2004 12:36 PM

LMAO thats really funny. But seriorsly you dug yourself into a corner. either your a looser or you have a small rooster. I would prefer to be neither of thise wouldnt you?

b-spot 09-02-2004 12:43 PM

^you're right. Neither would be good. Thats why I'm gonna buy a kia and run 20lbs of boost through it.

That way I own a kia, no way my rooster is small. And I smoke the small roostered porsche drivers.

Its a flawless master plan.

Sundayalero 09-02-2004 12:47 PM

/\/\ LOL! A sleeper Kia with 20lbs of boost... Nice!!!

b-spot 09-02-2004 01:41 PM

Yes, that may well blow my penis right off. I think i need to reconsider.

Naich 09-02-2004 03:51 PM

most ppl race because of the adrenaline rush. i enjoy drag racing because it takes practice and concentration, and you don't have to have a quick car to have fun with bracket racing. i also enjoy auto-x even though i've only gone once because you can really push the limits of your car. if i had a beater rwd car, i could really imagine getting into drift competitions as well.

Redog 09-02-2004 03:59 PM

It's fun, it a rush, and there is a hell of a lot more to racing than a heavy foot.

Keepin it on the track is better than the street for a few reasons

1. Nothing is going to come out in front of you

2. You know the other guy is racing you

3. No cops

4. Actuall finish line, not where the other guy gets ahead of you.

5. Knowing what the car runs, no guessing.

and of course it was already said:

6. Car and driver working as one

And b-spot you may already know about this site.

Shark Racing

Vanillaman,

That comment about street racing not happening here is more about Aleromod's stance against condoning street racing. Members are not allowed to discuss any racing that has occured unless it's at the track (circle, road course, dragstrip, etc.).

Plenty of people street race and we see plenty of illegal racing going on but we as a Forum can not condone it due to its inherent safety and legal issues. Hence the comment.

For myself, I've been drag racing since the Fall of 1986. I do it because I'm very competitive in nature. And while I'm not very good at baseball (not enough hand-eye coordination), basketball, synchronized swimming, or gymnastics, I stick with the sports I am good at - drag racing and... um... more drag racing (and occassionally roller hockey).

Over time, I've had the opportunity to build up my original ride - 1977 Camaro RS - into a street/strip terror. Eventually I got her from 17.72's in the 1/4-mile (stock 305 w/ cracked heads) to 12.40's (383 w/ over 400 hp and 400 tourque; 4:10 gears and B&M TH350 Auto Trans; Race weight 3,850 lbs.). There's nothing that takes the place of the feeling you get the very first time you launch the car with 100 extra foot pounds of torque over your previous set up.
