 Excellent tip! If your turn signals stop working , try tapping that hazard switch- if they come on, you've got one of the most common alero electrical problems, and you'll save yourself a lot of money and aggravation trying to figure this one out!

ill second the good tip comment....

i KNEW it had to be the hazard button, but couldnt figure out how to replace it without having to remove the dash first... cuz hell i replaced that turn signal flasher thing, like 3 times, and that didnt help... then the hazard button started buzzing and vibrating when the signals didnt work... so i figured it was that....

i just didnt know that anyone else had that problem....

im back btw... hehe got deleted

Oldsmobile is going to do a recall about turn signals not working (sometimes they work sometimes they don't) and it's supposed to be for year model 2001. They have to replace hazard switch. I had then fix mine. Now i have to take it back because the place that did it left alot of dents on my dash around my center vents. I hope that may help you.

per0xide 01-12-2004 06:45 PM

hehe sort of... mine's a 2000 :/

but maybe they'll be nice and fix it anyway... since i have the exact same symtoms... also, if mine dont work, 95% of the time it makes a loud buzzing noise, and the hazard button vibrates a lot... its embarassing when you have other people in the car, and they ask 'wtf is that noise???'

per0xide 01-12-2004 06:47 PM

anyone know how much the hazard button assembly costs?

Goto www.gmpartsdirect.com and do the part number search. the part number is above. I think it is around $16.

Hazard Recall

AlbinoMonkeyRat 03-15-2004 06:02 AM

I have this problem sometimes too, but my car was made at the end of '99. What can I do?

2kalerorocket 03-15-2004 07:45 AM

If it is not part of the recall you'll have to doit yourself. or complain a lot to the dealer and see if he will cut you a break.

I had this problem intermittantly on my '01. I received the recall letter, and had it done this week. I was out of the dealer in less than 1/2 hour.

While I was at the dealer, I saw the Intimidator and Dale Jr. Supercharged SSs. Who would pay $33.8K for a Chevy car -- other than a Vette of course??!!

mobs241 05-31-2004 01:03 AM

my hazards work fine, if you can reach the switch that got poped through the dash---grrrr

d_oz 08-26-2011 12:15 PM

sooo now that oldsmobile is under...where can i get this part?

$hawn 08-26-2011 12:37 PM

Should be able to get it at any GM dealership, they may or may not have to order it though.

Anyone have a link or part number to the GM or aftermarket Black Plastic bracket that the hazard switch snaps into.
I have searched on and off all day.
They must be getting scarce.
Probably scarce at the junk yards too.
Found It here, see below
