flowmaster or magnaflow

i need some help! im looking into getting a muffler this week (no not for horsepower) i want a nice deep sound. i dont want to sound like a chainsaw running down main street. im looking at a magnaflow part #mpe-14414 in the summit catalog...im only looking to spend about 100$. this summer im doing a custom cat back. so please help me and give me any suggestions you have!

my suggestion is search because magnaflow vs. flowmaster has been discussed like 137 times before...

anyhow, magnaflow ahs a nice deep sound and there is minimal drone, flowmaster also sounds good, but drones pretty good

doesnt matter, either one is good, i have a magnaflow and love it but once that goes, im going to experiment and get flowmaster

i prefer magnaflow. flowmaster are usually too loud and have that rattle raspy sound. magnaflow has a nice deep sound and stays that way through the whole rpm range. i have them on my 442 and i love them.

sound_xtreme 12-19-2006 12:51 AM

flows ftw

MixtapeMessiah 12-19-2006 01:49 AM

magnaflow ftw, flows are restrictive

I like Flows, but a lot of guys will say Maga's

I have an 80 on the Alero and dual Super 40's on the Delta. The 40's are starting to really break in nice now.

I've been happy with Flowmaster

MixtapeMessiah 12-19-2006 01:33 PM

ehh nice point, but still on any car it will be restrictive, inless u want a hot rod sound

any aftermarket muffler will flow better than the stock coffin thats on there.

I've had a flowmaster and a magnaflow on my first camaro which was a 3.4L. Flowmaster def had a better sound at idle, but i liked the sound on my magnaflow muffler when running at higher rpms. The only thing I noticed was flowmaster was loud all through the rpms, and magnaflow wasnt as loud in the higher rpms. flowmaster sounded best at around 3500-4000rpm, and magnaflow sounded good at like 2500-3200rpm. I didnt like the flowmaster also becuase at higher rpms, it sounded like a damn rice burner! But my Camaro didnt have a res. so it might be a little different sound than my Camaro did.

Also, I had single in and dual out for both mufflers if that makes a difference...

NickAlero2000 02-17-2008 07:29 PM

no to both, get a Borla!!!
Nice deep sound in the low range...but once im above 3200 all i hear is the intake!

Redog 02-17-2008 08:42 PM

Dual SUper 44's, hopefully going on the Alero tomorrow ;)
