cruise control quit working.

i use my cruise everyday, everywhere i go.

i have since 2001.

now, it will not work.

i did searching and others were having the button issue.

this is not that.

i have checked the fuses, i unplugged the cruise control and plugged it back in.

still no go.

any ideas??

TIA..

do you press the on/off button a lot? I just leave mine on and have had no issues with it. You might need a new button.

black 02-01-2008 11:26 AM

not the button issue.

the light on the left comes on/stays on without a problem.

i never turn it off.

Could be the main cruise control system in the engine bay, but I'm not 100% sure.

Check to see if the cruise control cable came loose off of the piece that is attached to the throttle body.

black 02-01-2008 12:04 PM

the cable is on...

i checked the plug..

one thought,

is there a way to short/override the cc to see if it works while idle?

YALEROYNOT 02-01-2008 12:05 PM

/\ x2

pull on the cable on the main box should pull out and retract back. thats how I checked the cable when mine stopped. then i saw I never pluged it back in when i did the ps pump :rolleyes2:

You might end up damaging further.

So the cable is tight like a tiger right?

The fuse is good, the power button is on?

You got me. I would check to make sure that the both cables iare really tight though.

Satsuriku 02-01-2008 12:37 PM

well it would be working now if he didnt give it a donkey punch lol jk

i've heard of this before where the switch works just fine but the control just wont work. as long as you see the cable is tight and not slipped or anything, i wouldn't know 100% what else it would be at that point

motor might be blown??

i removed it.

i will disassemble it and check it out.

01silveralero 02-01-2008 01:12 PM

try to hold down your button while on the highway thats wut i had to do in my silver alero. stopped working after i had the whole steering and rack and pinion replaced.

Vinalero 02-01-2008 01:12 PM

It will look like a stupid comment, but on one of my car, the cruise wasnt working because the speedometer was not working properly. I think the gear in the transmission that was telling the speed was stripped and my speedo wasnt really accurate.

Or maybe its a question of computer.

black 02-01-2008 01:58 PM

anyone have the pinouts for this?

black 02-01-2008 02:49 PM

ohh, crud.

i'm thinkin i might just buy a used one.

i can only find :

DELPHI CHG GM12575408 25348828 A

mine says:

DELPHI CHG GM12567859 25326962 A

i looked for the part new. and came up with:

DELPHI CHG GM12575408 25348828 A

i dont know what i am asking...

anyone know of a known issue with this??

same part???

black 02-04-2008 01:36 PM

before i go spend $$$ on a new one...

black 02-05-2008 02:25 PM

UGG!!!

now, the :

check engine
service engine
track off
abs off

lights are all on....

Frack!!!

black 02-19-2008 05:34 PM

son of a $@&#%&*#

got a new cc unit.

Still aint freekin workin!!!!

DAMN!!!

now, i am lost.

Gr1m 02-19-2008 05:58 PM

well your ABS sensor is bad, so you would need to replace your wheel hubs to get rid of SVS, trac off and abs off light

black 02-19-2008 06:03 PM

well, yeah.

those damn lights.

it is a hit-n-miss thing with them now.

some days, no lights.

other days, i'll be driving and then (bing bing bing) they all come on.

so, when i want to take it to autozone, no lights.

Twiz 03-13-2008 09:31 AM

I had a similar a similar problem on a diff. car. Cruise light comes on when you press the button but the speed drops. It wasn't a blown fuse or loose cable... it was a small vacuum hose which hooks up into the cruise control accuator or pump, I'm not sure what they call it. It should be pretty easy to find... one side of the cruise control cable leads right to it. You have a cable on one side and a vacuum connection (tube) on the other. Tube's either cracked (leaks air), disconnected or connected wrong.
