Hey guys, Lately I've been thinking of getting car audio for my car. I was looking at crutchfield, since I seen some deals. What is a good brand to go with? I seen a 5.8 inch dvd screen that attaches to the headrest from crutchfield for 199.00, but i'm not sure is that just the screen. What do I need to play dvd's. Can you just put a dvd in your regular cd player, or do you have to get a seperate dvd player for the car? Also I was thinking of getting it installed in the front, So everyone can see it front and back. Now which is better getting it installed in the the dash, or getting a mount and having it mounted on the the dashboard.Also if I decided to have it mounted on the dashboard, do they have kits where i can easily remove the screen for theft problems? I appreciate any feedback on this comment. I looked too see if a similair topic was started in the new site and I didnt see any. If it was started in the old one, I already forgot. Sorry.

well to get a dvd player to work heres what youd need

* DVD player
* Tv monitor
* Power Inverter
* Radio aux cables (to have it play through your stereo)

Theft is alwasy there but you can have it on a disconnect plug and take the tv down whenever your not in the car. Also the mounting kits can let you mount them anywhere you want.

So i can not play a dvd in the cd player that i already have mounted in the dash?

thats right, they have dvd headunits availible that have everything in one HU. that would probably be the best bet. something like this.

the only draw back is most of them you lose the tuner function.

why do you lose the tunner function??

All of the ones I have looked at don't say that they have tuner. so I guess there is just to much guts to fit the tuner items in the single din size.

You don't lose the tuner with the unit pictured above. As a matter of fact the unit above is usless unless you buy the seperate control box that you can mount under the seat. The majority of the in dash screen w/ dvd have no built in amps or tuners of any sorts. Pioneer also has an in dash DVD/CD/AM/FM/MP3 Tuner but you have to supply a screen. Also to be legal to have a screen in veiw of the driver it has to be hooked up so it can not play movies while the vehicle is in motion. I know that around here if the cops pull you over and you have anykind of screen in the veiw of the driver they make you prove that it will not play movies or TV while car is in motion. They are usualy connected to the park brake so when you set the brake the screen becomes usable.

I have the Alpine IVA-D900 unit and this one has the best picture quality right now. It plays DVD/CD/VCD/MP3, if you are looking for one this in the one to get. It has to tuner built into it also.
