I cat decide wether to go the whole nine yards and get the Pace Setter Cat Back off andysautosport, (or any other cat back for that matter) or go with Flowmaster. I want an exaust that will give me performance sound, but the extra horse power a full exaust system does. Anybody got experience here?

It all depends on the size engine you have.
Never had Pacesetter but I did have a Flowmaster 80 on my car, before going with a full SLP cat back. The Flowmaster sounds great, and the SLP is good also |
dont cut off your cat unless u want an O2 simulator. i just have a 40 series full exhaust from the cat back. sounds nice
|
^^ Don't cut off your cat at all, unless you want a nice big fine
|
so can you get flowmaster or whoever to make a bigger exhaust pipe from your CAT to your muffler?
|
just go to a local exhaust shop...a place where they bend their own pipes and whatnot. thats what many people (myself included) did
|
cool thanks. now i gotta go find a couple shops that do that. fricken snow storm
|
yeah this wheather sucks, im waiting to put mine on myself...... where do you live?
|
SLP has better sound (arguably) than anything.........and DEFINITLY better performance (horsepower) than anything (no contest..hands down)
|
once again, how do you figure. sound is all preference and performance gains will be minimal between systems
you get a set of custom pipes made and attach it to any high performance aftermarket muffler and your looking at the same performance. |
Borla has 2 1/4" pipe......SLP has 2 1/2" pipe
SLP has mandrel bent piping vs. a muffler shop's crush bent piping thats how......I dyno'd my car with my custom flowmaster setup and I had 133 whp. All I did was take that off and install the SLP and dyno'd again (same day) and I was at 144whp.........the proof is in the numbers. Then add S&S headers magnaflow h/f cat... DHP...CAI...pro-m maf...shift kit...and you get 175whp and a 14.7 second Alero |
What does everyone think of Borla cat back exhausts?(i have the 2.4L) how much hp would i gain?..... im getting a pacesetter ceramic coated header for my car as well......

Unless of course, the shop uses mandrel bent pieces and welds the whole thing in place, which is what Mufflerman Inc. does in Buffalo. ( Randy can vouch for me on this, as they did his exhaust too. ) Then I suppose, a custom welded system is not only at-par with an SLP, but it's cheaper, too. The only difference in the two IMHO is that the SLP will undoubtedly last a while longer, as it's got better corrosion resistance qualities than a custom welded system. |

Well, I can pretty well guarantee that I got mandrel bent, and i paid $100 for it... 2.5" |

All other things aside, the Borla is probably the BEST quality system that you're going to find. It'll probably last dang near forever! |
