Okay, I've gone the last 6 months without squirts because of the accident I had back in July. I can live without squirts, really. I'm just sick of the dummy light. So instead of cheating and finding some dumb way to turn the light off, I've decided to break down and actually repair it. Does anybody have any clue as to HOW to actually get to it though? (Haynes repair manual doesn't cover this...<_<)

the reservoir itself is like 15 bucks US, so screw going to the dealer and gettiing assraped on labor fees.

From where it is, I'd say remove the wheel well liner (pull little plastic plugs) and then unscrew the black plastic pieces underneath the front of the car. You may also have to remove the battery and the battery tray to get to some bolts. Doing both of those will guarantee access, although I'm not sure exactly where all of the bolts and such are located.

This thread from GAGT.com has some pics that give you a good underside-view when you remove the plastic parts:

Oh yeah, I don't know if you've done a CAI yourself. If not, find a thread about CAI install as far as how to remove the wheel well liner and the other stuff.

Let me know if you want some pics, although if so I won't be able to get some until tomorrow night.

This thread too: http://www.grandamgt.com/forum/showthread....=&threadid=3737. Are you sure it's not the pump instead of the reservior? Depending on the collision and all...either could be the problem. They say how to check the pump in that thread, too. Cracked pump housing seems to be the same as cracked reservior....Good luck!

all I know is that the entire gallon of washer fluid leaks out when I pour it in, almost as fast too.

Thanks for those links :)

actually removal of the bumper would be best.

removing the inner fender still does not provide good access to it.

First take off the inner fender liner & check the washer pump as it is only held in by a rubber grommet..no screws etc. most likely the pump has jarred out of the washer reservoir. Also make sure you reposition the pump correctly as it has a float attached to it & it controls your dash light telling you when the washer fluid is low.

Is this going to be the same for both engines? I had a rat chew on the top of mine a little bit. The cap is pretty bad and needs to be replaced. The reservior I could go either way on.

I used silicone adhesive on the battery part that got chewed.

You must be the only other person I know that still has the battery wrap intact.

The rate ate some of it, so it's not completely intact. Car only has around 56K miles in it, so I am not surprised.

Pat (1970cs) probably does too, but I've got one. I'm guessing it's rare but not really valuable...

Oldsnut 12-05-2019 03:30 PM

Interested selling it?
