took car for tuning to day. lil problem

I called the tuning shop around lunch time and the told me that the boost controller and the car spiked at 15 psi on stock block. He said the trans sloped alil. Should i worry?

[ion] C2 02-09-2012 07:49 PM

ya, your head gasket leaks now

turboalero 02-09-2012 08:47 PM

Hey just text me he tuned it to 11 psi at only 245hp :(

[ion] C2 02-09-2012 09:03 PM

probably went way low on the advance

the rods break only a bit beyond that number

one good question is are they even using the GM 2 Bar Supercharger tune as a base? if not he's using an inaccurate scaled 1 bar setup...

turboalero 02-09-2012 09:13 PM

I asked the same q's b4. He's using the 2 bar. This guy has 2 ld9 grand and one pushing over 430 on meth.

[ion] C2 02-09-2012 09:17 PM

shouldn't need methanol.

if he supposedly has 2 LD9s and knows how to tune them, then something may be wrong with your car.

running an air filter? could be clogged
could have a boost leak
could have exhaust leak pre-turbo
exhaust piping too small (what size do you have?)

do a compression test

then again, you have an eBay journal bearing turbo that is about the size of a genuine GT35R.

also the auto trans slipping will cause a lower reading. and if they're using a mustang dyno it will also be lower than what you might expect from a dynojet or others (by 15-20%)

turboalero 02-09-2012 09:56 PM

Your right. He says my tb gasket is leaking alil. He advised me to go to a 3" exhaust with no cat. I'm using a 2.5" exhaust turbo back with cat. In va and need to pass emissions at the end of the week

xXManwhoreXx 02-09-2012 09:57 PM

Compression test for sure.. Also like ion said if it was a mustang dyno your numbers are going to be really low

Wait till after your test, than do the exhaust work lol

turboalero 02-09-2012 10:01 PM

That numbers am I looking for on stock block for the test. 125-150?

[ion] C2 02-09-2012 10:14 PM

Somewhere between 170 and 190.. but the more important thing is that they're all close to each other. And above 150.

MMGT1 02-10-2012 06:59 PM

Unless you crack that 400hp mark the 2.5 inch will flow just fine. Getting a 3" over the rear arm is next to impossible, not impossible, but its going to hit. If you think the 2.5 is not enough I would invest in an electronic cut-out.... just my 2 cnts bud

[ion] C2 02-10-2012 07:08 PM

This is a turbocharger we're talking about, not a supercharger. Just because it "might" be able to flow fine, doesn't mean you can't make it bigger. No harm in going huge on a turbo exhaust.

2.5" exhaust to 3" open downpipe is a massive gain on my vehicle.

MMGT1 02-10-2012 09:38 PM

Did you manage a 3" over that rear arm? Hell man, seems like every month Im adjusting mine and its only 2.5

turboalero 02-10-2012 09:39 PM

(C2) Do you have a 3" full exhaust

[ion] C2 02-10-2012 10:04 PM

I said open downpipe. It's 2.5" all the way back after that. But yeah, fitting a 3" all the way back is easy. I will do a mandrel stainless soon. For now, opening the downpipe is what I do at the track.

xXManwhoreXx 02-10-2012 11:18 PM

What I have heard from many people is that e-cutouts Tendto break and stop working. No personal experience just word of mouth.

[ion] C2 02-10-2012 11:22 PM

Yep so use a manual one. For me I have the downpipe connected to the rest of the exhaust via v-band. It's as easy as unbolting a clamp and hanging the rest of my exhaust on a second hanger next to it.
