glassing door panels
so anyway i sort of got myself into a big project...been glassing my door panels. lot of work, messy as fack and the weather hasnt been great so drying time is longer then normal. anyway i glassed the first door panel and am waiting for it to dry now. heres a couple of pictures. richie said to give it a day or two to fully cure so im gonna go out and get effed up for my birthday and worry about it another day lol.
PS: i would not suggest being an idiot like me and start a big fiberglassing project without any experience whatsoever. |
dt wait for pics to load hope you drilled a lot of holes i have to pieces which are still sticky and i have grinded everything off it never set all the way i think we decided it was bad stuff
now i looked at the pics if you dont wear a mask youll get happy hahaha and do you have poopers now??
not yet, and yes i drilled plenty of holes and sanded her good, i only had like 3 small air bubbles that i filled in yesterday
nice so has it been raining there that will kill cure time. i hae the auto loc kit and a solinoid busted so id say go with spal.
yes its been around 50 degrees and raining, so its cold in the garage and im sure the moisture isnt helping either
yeah i always kill it with a lot of the hardner it will get so freakin hot i dont like to wait
i put too much on one of the batches i made and i ended up wasting like 2oz of resin because it hardened so fast.
Oh, how I love FG'ing parts... can't wait to start the interior pieces for the rear...
looking good though. |
its not too bad once you get the hang of it, its just hard on the door panels at the top with all the curves to get out the damn airbubbles, hoping the dash will be alot easier
What type of FG are you using? The hair or the woven?
polyester resin with chopmat
I might need help if I ever get to fiberglassing pieces of my interior....
I'm thinking of just recovering it... I'll probably need some advice from you, eh_nigma. |
matt is the easiest then use hair for extra strength for the holes
damn im wainting to go start workin again heh |
i heard you use cloth for smoother surfaces, and it is generally stronger, but the door panels are very curvy and thus you use mat, whatever it seems to be stong with the mat and ive been following what richie has told me
looks like its goin excellent man, have doing even more sanding coming up :]
Niiiiice, you better practice a lot, cause when i come down there your doing mine! ;-) hahahaha, jk i dont need that shit. Im going performance!
What is the ultimate goal with the doors?
make me a set. ill give you 50$ shipped :D
