80w is pretty high. I'd ask for a warranty or a guarantee or something. perhaps even a replacement policy. if they do melt, definitely go with a lower wattage bulb. seriously shouldn't go more than 50w (stock are 35w, IIRC)

cherrington17 03-08-2009 10:46 PM

that wire would probably work.. yes.

but the wire leading up TO that little segment is still too small for the power demand your going to pull. So that'll melt, regardless. you'd need to replace all the way back.

Where does it say that you can use an 80w bulb?

it doesn't...just did the Ctrl+F search.

I'll make it easy on you diezl...you don't want to use 80w bulbs because they'll melt your wiring, even with that fancy doohickey...and other drivers wouldn't want you to use it because you would blind them, and they give a eff about your wiring. lol

cool thanks good to know. its really hard to find white bulbs the closest ive come is the cheap eurodezigns ultras. i hate tht blue tint crap i like pure white. only ones i can find white are high wattage. ive tried 4 different brands.

Whats the need for crazy powerful headlights anyways? My stock headlights in the alero are already the strongest beams I've had in any car I've ever owned....

cherrington17 03-09-2009 06:27 AM

odd... cuz mine are horrible. i got silverstar ultras, and those seem dim now... still waiting on HIDs. :glare:

Beholder88 03-09-2009 07:43 AM

Silverstar Ultra. I got a set of those and I'll never use anything else, unless I get HID's...

irondiezl3 03-09-2009 02:35 PM

u like the silverstars? they arent yellowish?

Valley olds 03-09-2009 05:55 PM

Ive heard silverstars are good, but they dont last very long though. Why dont you just wait so you can get HID's though. With all the bulbs youve bought, you would have been closer to the real deal already. Eventually, you most likely will go HID anyways, even if you do buy other bulbs.

Nah, my silverstars are more blue-ish. I've had them since I got the car, so about 8 months. We'll see how long they last.

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree with you there...when I first started driving mine, I thought they were abnormally bright...even now, once or twice a week I get flashed from oncoming traffic on my way to work in the morning...and then I feel a great sense of satisfaction when I flip em the beams right back...when I go to the brights, it's like someone turned on the sun.

Misuseofyou 03-11-2009 07:22 PM

I got some bulbs called 'Eurolite' Xenon Crystal Bulbs from Crappy Tire. They're a fair bit brighter than the bulbs I had in and give off white light w/ no blue. They aren't HIDs, just plug em in.

Valley olds 03-11-2009 07:34 PM

The thing about most Xenon lights, is that they eventually burn your harness due to their higher than stock wattage.
