high stall torque converter

i've posted something along these lines over on nbodypower, but it looks kind of quiet over there recently.
my questions are,
1. What is the stall of our stock torque converters?
2. What is better for my setup, the stock tc or a 2800 stall tc? i don't want to over-do it with the 2800 stall if it will cause sluggishness down low.

let me know what you think.

i wouldn't recommend a 2800 stall on anything under 350hp. period. even with your stage 3 or 4 setup nothing over maybe 2100 stall would be tops. the stock stall is like 1200-1400 rpm. which would work just fine for you.

Actually the stock converters are more like 2300ish stall. There have been many times I've brake torqued to maybe 2100ish without hitting the stall speed. Plus the guy building my new transmission tore everything apart and told me the stock stall was 2375. You may be better off with the stock stall speed.

i just did a stall test a week ago at school and mine is 2600 and the other kid in my class that had a ecotec 2003 alero his stall was about 2800

Thats weird. My new trans. is an '04 from an Ecotec and that's the one with the 2375 stall. Possibly the tach is off a little? That is a lot to be off by though...

I believe the older 2.2 and Quad4 cars had some ridiculously high stall speed around 2760...
