How hard is it to remove a pin stripe? <paging Bodyman!>
Someone near me is parting out their Escort, and posted a pic of the fender I'm thinking of buying:
Anyway, the fender seems to look OK, and I'd have to repaint it, but I assume that I'd have to remove the pin stripe, and any clear cost before reapinting it. I'm just not sure how to removing the pin striping. I guess it can be sanded off, but I don't want be too rough with that so that area matches everything else. That and I'd like to use it as practice for removing the pin striping in case I ever want to do that on the Alero. |
well shit if youre going to repaint it.. scrape it off with your finger.. its just a sticker. you can also do the safe way, if you dont want to repaint.. hair dryer, finger.. peel off slowly spreading the heat and then goo gone on the area when done.. then wash and wax.

on that type of car its most likely just a sticker. safest cheap way is to use an eraser and clean up the residue with rubbing alcohol. that what we always used at work to remove dealer stickers from vehicles, ecpet our eraser fit in a power drill:p

You can use a blow dryer or a heat gun and that will peel it up pretty well
|
Yeah it's a sticker, just peel it off. Heat will help you.
Since you are going to repaint it. Any prep work to be done to the fender will take off the glue left behind. Also, the paint is probably really shiny under that pin stripe  |
my prayers are with you

lol...oh boy

back in the day i use to use a razer edge to lift it up and pull the dame thing off then use wax and grease remover to ge the sticky glue off the clear.. the buff it up with some 3m glaze..... |
