frozen gas?

well i have another problem with my car. tonight its about 10 degress out and i was almost done with work well i decided to move my car around to the front of the building while i was taking the trash out. so i went inside for about 10 minutes finished up and went back out to start my car. the only reason i turned it off is because some had there car stolen there a few weeks ago. well i couldnt get my car to start. it seems its not getting any fuel. did maybe some water thats in the gas freeze in the injectors? we sparyed some started fluid into the tb but it would only run for a second. my car is stuck out front of were i work and i am no longer mobile. can anyone help me? am i going to have to wait untill it gets above 32 to get it going?? i want my car:cry:

i dont see how its possible for what your saying to be true

MADMike 01-03-2008 12:25 AM

Same thing happened to me, well similar anyways. Probly the fuel pump.

AftermathAlero 01-03-2008 12:26 AM

Dont buy cheap gas thats is mainly water! get the good stuff.

and ur fuel pump is prolly crapping out.

how low is the gas tank?

Grim- my friend she filled up her truck w/ cheap gas. It made the car run like poop. We dropped the tank to pour it out and u can see the gas/water separate in the container we poured it in.

Gr1m 01-03-2008 12:32 AM

sorry my car only sees 93

cavaliers60 01-03-2008 12:37 AM

I drove my car in 10 degree weather today and had no problems... Sounds like the fuel pump.

blueolds01 01-03-2008 01:22 AM

its get go (gaint eagle) brand, im not rich....

theres half a tank of gas.

i dont understand how it can work and then 10 minutes later it doesnt... i can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key. the car has 84k miles on it. would it really quit on me that fast?

can i change the pump in a parking lot. i dont want to have it towed home...

ares89 01-03-2008 01:28 AM

brother was told by a dealer not to get getgo gas... says its got alot more dirt and junk in it than others.. he had an 05 Mustang at the time and the gas he was getting (getgo) was supposedly screwin with the sensors

Redog 01-03-2008 03:37 AM

I've been told the pump is easy to replace, but I would still have it towed home. No use in forgetting a tool or lugginh a entire load of tools you don't need

strtrydr 01-03-2008 06:10 AM

^from what the dealership told me the pump is easy to replace but it is the fact that the tank has to be dropped to get the pump out :( ... definitely not something to do in a parking lot with minimal tools.

Brandino78 01-03-2008 07:23 AM

yeah fuel pump, have you run your tank low in the cold before? its something not worth doing in a parking lot, too much messing around. probally a combination of poor gas quality, weather

Vtolds 01-03-2008 07:34 AM

I would just throw some dry gas in and see what you come up with.

misslindseysue 01-03-2008 08:52 AM

Yeah, drygas or something like it. My Alero died on me once, just driving along and fuel line froze somewhere. It wasn't far from work, so nothing was unfrozen yet. Added some gas and a bottle of something (sorry, don't remember exactly what), sloshed the tank a little, and I was good to go.

Gr1m 01-03-2008 11:46 AM

fuel pump is very easy to replace, its just that you haveto drop the tank in order to get to the top where the fuel pump assemb is mounted

blueolds01 01-03-2008 03:01 PM

what is drygas? thanks for all the help. ill hopfully have it home for the weekend. weather its running or not.

Vtolds 01-03-2008 04:04 PM

It gets rid of moisture you should try that before dropping your gas tank.

mike2002 01-03-2008 06:32 PM

they sell "heat" at any gas station, get the "iso heat" it will absorb the water out of your gas tank.

it should take longer then 10 minutes to freeze, but warm water will freeze faster then cold water.

both times this happened to my work van i pushed it into the wharehouse and let it warm all day inside. it takes a little to start it after that, since there fuel line needs to refill but it should go no problem.

natedawg9640 01-03-2008 11:00 PM

isn't isoheat technically just ethyl alchohol or... ethanol... and it doesn't absord water... it bonds to the h20 molecules and lets them burn through... is the security light blinking?

blueolds01 01-03-2008 11:22 PM

i will try some sort of drygas before i drop the tank. i got it home tonight, cost me 8 bucks so im not so bummed.

lately when ive been driving my security light has come on. when it does i usually just turn the car off and turn it back on and it goes away. tonight i tried to reset the sercurity thing, some one brought it up to me. he to just to turn the key in the 'on' position for 5 minutes then try to start it. it didnt start. is there some other way of resetting it?

jabartram 01-03-2008 11:40 PM

security light, is key on for 10 mins at the least.
