why would you want to stick that on your car anyways? u shouldnt need to be yacking too much while driving also... lol

but does it work? i dunno. looks like a waste of money imo

cherrington17 02-25-2007 09:19 PM

why would you need it? if your in your car and you don't have signal... that means the area around your car won't have signal. therefore, there is nothing to boost.

it can't/won't work, unless its powered in someway.

antichrysler 02-25-2007 09:35 PM

Yeah, I really don't see how that would work. I used to work at a cell phone store and all of the boosters we had used an end to plug into the phone itself. Each phone has a unique end.

I have one, somehow they do work. Go to Best Buy and get one for $20

cherrington17 02-25-2007 11:18 PM

^and just how can you prove that? i promise you that there is NO way that little magnetic antenna that connects to NOTHING is recieving and repeating CDMA or GSM signals... you car would be a mobile transmitter, for which you need to have a connection to power, since your broadcasting a radio signal.

but since it does work... how many watts does it broadcast at? and what kind of signal gain do you get? what services does it work for? and what areas? do you notice an increase in your 3g services?

steve-o 02-27-2007 08:07 AM

yeah those antennas are a thing of the past.

Oldsnut 02-27-2007 09:23 AM

Doesn't make a difference in your signal strength period. Save your money.

Anyone see that ebay auction for that guy that would promise to let the nastiest fart possible into a bottle and send it out to you? You might get more enjoyment out of that than some of the other items people try to sell on ebay. (Please if you bought it, don't open it yourself. That's not the point)

greenbastard 02-27-2007 11:28 AM

that antenna probably does shit and that would look super gay on an alero. i'm glad our antennas are in the back window. that keeps the car looking clean.

Ghadsphi 02-27-2007 11:58 AM

That is the one thing I hate about our Caddy (other than the computers MPG), those antenna on the back of cars. I wouldn't have cared at all if I didn't know there was an antenna in the front windshield for the onstar and that some CAPITALIST MORON, decided to sell stick on fake antennae so people could pretend they could live above their means.

SittinOnChrome 02-27-2007 01:03 PM

I used to sell some of the wilson products for cell phones and got alot of postive feedback from my customers using thier antennas they can give you about a 10-15 db gain. As long as you have the Proper adapter for your phone. The adapters for nokia phones are the ones that velcro on the back of your phone arent that effective at all. Also having an antenna plugged in can increase the life of your cell phone battery since it has to work alot less trying to find signal. If you really want a bigger gain in signal you can also buy a 3 watt amplifier for your external ant from wilson as well... These are kind of pricey about 300 bucks... but the average phone is about 1/2 watt of power ... I would check out what they have to offer for your phone at www.wilsonelectronics.com before buying some knock-off ebay crap..

freakout 02-27-2007 08:48 PM

I have the small wilson mag mount on the trunk of the Alero. Where my wife worked she couldn't get service, with the antenna solid 3/4 bars. You can see it in my cardomain.

LaChicana 02-27-2007 09:31 PM

Send me that $20+ those antennas are a real waste of time. Its just a major waste of dinero. Get a better cell that gets better connection if I was you

jayson_waltz 02-27-2007 11:26 PM

dunno but on our OLD ass bag phone we used to have, an external antenna made a big difference. it wasn't a wireless repeater like this though

Kilroy 03-31-2007 02:55 AM

A passive antenna like this is totally useless. If you need extra range, the only thing that will help your present cell phone is an antenna that actually plugs into your cellphone. Trust me on this. I know from experience.
