It would be decent. You need a sub box? Im still trying to get rid of my old thats molded for the alero trunk.

It's for ease of wiring.

My old Kenwood was the same way.

Allows for more choices of wiring options + using larger (0/1 gauge) Gauge wire without having to jam both into the same output.

got new stereo in for some reason anytime i skip tracks or pause the headunit the subwoofer pops lightly. none of the mids pop just subwoofer i checked all connectioons are clean and tight wtf is causing this?

xXManwhoreXx 05-23-2012 01:44 AM

Bad ground or pinched rca???

Most likely a bad head unit or amp though...

irondiezl3 05-23-2012 12:59 PM

ok so when i take out the rcas from the amp no more poping at all amp still has power ground speaker and remote connected just take out the rcas and it goes away put them back in and its there. my friend thinks its the headunit but its a really good headunit and my 4 mid speakers dont do it at all and they have an amp to them

xXManwhoreXx 05-23-2012 01:06 PM

Doesnt mean a small part in the headunit wasnt defective

irondiezl3 05-23-2012 02:46 PM

hmmmm i cant believe how stumped i am if the poping when i skip wont hurt anything i can deal with it. any idea whats more likely the new amp or headunit causing it?

xXManwhoreXx 05-23-2012 05:53 PM

Head unit IMO... But I'm no audio guy by any means

irondiezl3 05-24-2012 09:29 AM

i just lisened to it again and i can see my sub actually moving to the idle in my motor man i hope that means its just a bad ground.

Ryan from Ohio 06-19-2012 09:13 PM

Its the head unit more than likely.

Pull the unit out. Take the ground right off the harness of the radio (not the adapter plug) and put it to bolt in the center console.

If that doesnt seem to fix it take another set of RCAs and just run them above the carpet to test if its the RCAs picking up noise. I highly doubt the rcas since you are getting alternator whine.

Lastly your alternator might be on its way out.

xXManwhoreXx 06-19-2012 09:18 PM

I hope he has figured this out by now!

irondiezl3 06-26-2012 11:02 PM

wow it was the amp got new amp all gone phewwww

DRM Racing 07-14-2012 04:15 PM

road noise or alternator whine is caused by two things. A bad ground to the chassis or inside the amp or RCA feedback which can be caused by the rca jacks being to close to the power wire. The popping is negitive feedback and as said up above can be a bad amp or your RCA jacks.
