V8 swap

Anyone know if its possible to do a V8 swap??

Oldsnut 03-15-2012 08:04 PM

There are Aleros with V-8's in them and it probably cost a fortune.

kwhauck 03-15-2012 10:59 PM

Possible yes, but definately not worth it.

side note:

has anybody ever considered swapping in the oldsmobile 3.5 dohc like it was done in the alero OSV? I think that would be a badass conversion and obviously it is possible

Why don't we work on installing a CAI and oil gauge first :rolleyes2:

Hellfire5670 03-16-2012 04:29 AM

30-40 grand!!!! That is totally not worth it. With that cash you could fully build the engine and Turbo it. Also do the 6speed swap or the grand price granny swap and your alero would be. So much faster.

Redog 03-22-2012 09:13 PM

If dude would have dropped in an LS motor, it would have been a lot faster, but with the added weight of a frame, not worth it, speed wise

Goodman 03-23-2012 04:24 AM

Guys!... i don't even know if the photo is real or photo shop (i think it's fake) got this picture somewhere on the net & don't remember where?

Anyhow the only guy that i know who tried that on an Alero never finish the project , as far as i can tell -->http://www.cardomain.com/ride/214200...dsmobile-alero

Funny thing is , i do have an S-10 pickup truck 1992 with 4.3l v6 but i would never use that for the Alero unless i win the lottery & spend lots of cash for fun

One thing i been thinking to convert the Alero in to a RWD would be to take all the engine & transmission out & put it in the back & use the front car as a trunk
Don't know if that would be cheaper/easier to do?

Just an idea...
Doesn't matter to me as i will never have the cash for such a project anyways...

I think that is the real car in your avatar.

The guy had an old S-10 frame laying around and swapped the body from the Alero onto the frame. Custom suspension and rear axle done and kept it a 5x4.75 bolt pattern for the wheels which makes the car all GM.

The problem is the frame and body combo added a ton of weight. I forget the exact weight of the car, but the car was built for drag racing, and is slow as shit for the money spent.

My buddy has a low 8 second Mopar powered dragster, and including the price of the car, he has just over $30,000 in it
