Throttle Plate Damaged

It's been sticking between 1-15% lately (lately as in past year).. and I kept trying to adjust its position so it doesn't contact the edges of the bore, but since then, it just got worse and now it apparently wore down the top edge of the blade so air goes by that shouldn't, causing me to have a nice vacuum leak and an IAC valve that is fully closed and ineffective at idle.

I have spare throttle bodies but 52mm stock ones. My throttle body is a 62mm RSM one.. I have a post on my local forum seeing if anyone knows a place that can fix it, otherwise, does anyone know of a place I could send it to for repair?

cant find a nother throttlebody and just swap out the blade?

[ion] C2 08-19-2012 08:58 PM

TB is bigger than stock.. none to pull it from

also, it's been sticky and I want it to be repaired right

sleepyalero 08-19-2012 09:16 PM

could a machine shop do it?

jawa 08-19-2012 09:20 PM

or you could get a TB off the intregue 3.5 twin cam

this guy bores jeep TBs to 62mm and installs blades. maybe you could contact him and see if he has any blades you could modify

falloutboy 08-20-2012 06:40 AM

what about the company that sold your TB? Either they have new blades (and screws) or you could ask for an exchange or repair.

Then on the other hand, a good machine shop a pile of dough and time should get you what you need

[ion] C2 08-20-2012 09:22 AM

It's RSM, they're gone. I wouldn't trust them to do it even if they were still around.

Oldsman 08-20-2012 09:57 AM

Have a machine shop make you a new one. They are easy to make.

falloutboy 08-20-2012 10:07 AM

outsch :(
ok. Well they probably just copied an existing TB - just have to find the original one at RockAuto :)

AleroB888 08-20-2012 11:48 AM

Probably time for a new TB -- bearings worn out, excessive sideways movement in shaft area, etc.

Yeah, they took a 52mm and bored it out and made a custom 62mm plate for it...

Maybe it's time to upgrade to LS1 75mm?

sleepyalero 08-20-2012 02:47 PM

might as well....

jawa 08-20-2012 06:37 PM

question is what caused it

a.graham52 08-20-2012 09:31 PM

i was looking at 2011 equinox today, had the intake off, i noticed the throttebody on that thing was quite large even with the ecotech. maybe look into the size of that thing?

[ion] C2 08-21-2012 07:26 AM

Kinsler (local) can make me a throttle plate real quick and cheap. Forgot that they do that sort of thing.

I also came across this old thread about my 62mm TPS problems, and noticed the reason my plate can move up and down so easily, that metal ring that's supposed to restrict vertical movement is messed up.

Get a hold of Marc at TCE (british car conversions ) he should be able to get ya one pretty quickly. Either the plate or a new TB.
