You could look at any of the other 20 threads just like this to find out that it isn't

WIALERO 05-06-2013 10:01 AM

Il go find them head is still in the lost land from drinking last night and did not think to go look before I asked

guiguilandry 05-06-2013 10:38 AM

.... do you want to keep it automatic with the 4t65hd tranny ??...

sleepyalero 05-06-2013 10:45 AM

the 3800 s/c swap is honestly not worth it, for everything needed to swap.

3.5 is honestly the easiest swap from a 3.4

You're drunk a lot aren't you?

guiguilandry 05-06-2013 11:11 AM

it's doable guys... it can even be done in one week if he wants to keep it automatic... just that he 'll need to gather some specific parts before tackling this project

- a montecarlo ss 2004 only pcm... (this is the only pcm that makes the cluster works on our car... I found that AFTER I bought 2500$ of autometer gauge...)
- the mms 4t65 tranny mounts for n-body
- HPtuner...
- someone really good with wiring (like me)
- a good welder
- some custom stuff of course wil need to be done like exhaust, pass. side motor mount
- front dogbone can be modded to fit
- custom radiator hose
- it will work with the stock fuel pump but I do not recommend it, I recommend a ZZP one

all in all it will be a 50hr+ job and on top of the 550$ parts car, you'll need another 2500-3000$

So what Wiring would need to be done in a grand am would the monte PCM work? What year engine could we use because I want to use the L32 with a ported genv m90.

guiguilandry 06-18-2013 10:32 AM

the best for your buck would be to use the 04 monte ss engine, pcm and harness and then swap a ported gen5 blower on it...

or if you really want a L32 with a gen5 blower, get it ported, but still need the wiring and pcm of 04 monte carlo ss

(note that I did not tested if the monte pcm works actually with our cluster, I've read it on the net from a guy who did it and say that it works, He said he tried over 20pcm and found that this one works great)

What axles and hubs would I have to use? Are you for sure the monte PCM will work. I was told to find a gtp the same year as my car so the swap wouldn't be so hard the guy who told me had swapped a 3800 into his 2003 Montana!

Keep in mind that I did my swap 5 about 5-6 years ago, at that time I knew of only 2 other guys that swapped 3800 in their cavaliers running manual transmission...

My car has been parked for pretty much 2 ½ - 3 years now du to vandalism and other crap that happened to me, you know it's called life...

I started to gather again some parts to upgrade my project for about a year now, but I left alomst all the internet forums except aleromod... So I guess that you can make more up to date research than I did...

First of july, I'll move to a new appartment with a garage!!! FINALLY I'LL BE ABLE TO START WORKING AGAIN ON IT!!!!!!
But I 'll go back soon to the 3800 boards because I just bought this for a effing super awesome deal from a friend of mine....

1200$!!!!! with the 20's and 255 tires, the engine is a l36 bottom end with the l67 topend I built it for him 3 years ago.. It has 3,4 pulley, 2 step colder plugs, 180* t-stat, u-bend delete, tuned on 91 and 94 octane, 4 inch fenderwell intake, audio system, strut bars, urethane motor mounts etc...
All I need to do is replace the fronts brakes...

I saw your car on youtbe with no exhaust. I am going to the junk yard to find a 2004 monte Carlo harness and transmission will I have to use a different tranny cooler? Are there any extra I could use off of a monte? How long did it take to get your car running right?

guiguilandry 06-18-2013 02:55 PM

lol the little vid was the first startup ever...

harness, pcm, try to snatch the dogbone mounts, maybe they'll fit ??
if you can take the radiator/fans and coolant hoses it will be an upgrade compared to the stock n-body radiator, but you'll probably have to fabricate mounts for it... maybe axles too...

I highly suggest that you put an aftermarket transmission cooler, that's the first thing I'll do on my GP

what year/car is your engine and transmission from ??

I have a 3400 turbo cammed engine mated with a 4T45E with 3.05 FDR in my grand am right now but the 3800SC is out of a 2004 monte as like you told me to get I have the 4T65E-HD with 3.29 gearing.Milzy probably has axles that come with his swap so I'll se if he has any to sell plus hubs!

guiguilandry 06-18-2013 03:19 PM

he will certainly have the right axles for you... and I'd like to see your current setup...

I think that the only custom parts that you'll have to fabricate will be some engine mounts, but you'll have the transmission mounts as the starting point... you'll only have to level the engine and weld some brackets to the engine and subframe and probably modify the dogbone
other than that, custom radiator hose...

do you want to keep the A/C ??
The major part will be the wiring, are you good in electronic ??

I'm not the best at wiring I've helped a guy around town we swapped a 3800sc into his feiro. I will have a few profesional people helping me with wiring would Milzy have the engine mounts I know he has the transmission mount to go with the swap to.
