This is a guy selling the tranny what else will I need?

Search, this has been talked about so many times.

You basically need everything... Shifter, shifter cables, clutch pedal, trans, clutch, clutch resivoir...... Ect.....

why not f40 6speed out of the saab 9-3 for ecotec...there are other newer applications i believe it could come from as well

@mgaw23 10-15-2013 09:47 AM

What kind of cost will these do to me?
How about putting the clutch in the car? What kind of mods will need to be done?

mfuller 10-15-2013 11:48 AM

Although it's not exactly the same application, when the first automatic to 6-speed manual swap was done on a V6 Grand Am, the owner reported spending about $3K to get it done (and that was performing the majority of the work himself). So that's probably in the ballpark for you.
Figure on twice that if you hire everything out.

@mgaw23 10-15-2013 03:02 PM

3 grand!!!!! :o

sleepyalero 10-15-2013 09:43 PM

Yeah its not cheap...... I paid 3800$ just for parts for my swap. All new from GM.

Babyblue 10-16-2013 02:55 PM

yeah the f40...

Papa Rad17 10-20-2013 02:57 AM

well the 2.2 actually had the 5sp as a factory option. mostly just the swap of the tranny its self and supporting equipment. hp tuners will be needed for sure... shit cable linkage and what not. technically shouldn't be to bad.

sleepyalero 10-20-2013 03:27 AM

Need axles too.

Papa Rad17 10-20-2013 05:49 AM

yep. they just wouldnt have to be custom made and and what not. of course im sure there will some stuff and some might be able to be found, but the f40 and f35 were never made to go with the 3400. the 2.2 had the factory option.
I just looked though, The one in your link up there ^^^^^ thats listed for the 2.4. I dont think that same transmission was used for the 2.4 was also used on the 2.2 was it? 2.4 was 99-01, 2.2 was 02-04 on the alero. I think maybe a cobalt... cavalier, or sunfire maybe, grand am for sure that have a 2.2 the same series it should bolt right up i would think. drive axels and stuff might not line up... who knows. Im sure the ones from the other cars could be fitted but I have no idea if they are quite the same, gear ratios of course will probably be different. ya. its sounds so simple but theres a lot to do...

03glgold 10-20-2013 09:08 AM

all ecotecs have the same bolt patern so all eco transmissions will bolt up the newest option being the 6speed out of the cruze...the question comes to the axles for all of it

Garnetdawn 10-20-2013 11:31 AM

Might be a bit late on this thread, but couldn't you use a 4t65eHD from the Supercharged 3800

sleepyalero 10-20-2013 12:06 PM

Yes only on the 3400s though.

tw0123 10-20-2013 12:38 PM

I just really took a look at this thread... if you have an auto ecotec just hit up a junk yard and look for a wrecked n-body with a manual... buy everything including the subframe... the axles transmission etc that's bolted to it... check the pcm to see if it's the same year as yours and it should work in theory
You will also need the shifter assembly and cables and the pedals...
Again in theory this should work :)?
