The new guy I work with actually bought it thinking it was a "chip" for his car (which he still does oddly), a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 5sp manual. So with his min. bid of $5 which ended up going to $10 he got his "chip".

And oh, you bet i wanted to see what it was

and with instructions and all.....

HELLO RESISTOR

That's it, maybe I could have pitched him my led resistor for $4 and sold him 20 which would make 400 hp if wired together

brim 12-15-2003 02:15 AM

even similar to those $20+ items =p

Complaint : not a module 2 wires w/resistor $5 Item buyer beware hooks up to your Iat sensor

Response by performanceparts_co - MSRP IS $99. WE OFFER WHOLESALE PRICES. DYNO PROVEN PERFORMANCE. MANY HAPPY PPL

get the colours or a pic of it so that anyone who is kinda irked/curious by this so called power booster can take the colour code down to radio shack and buy one for liek .30 cents...

brim 12-15-2003 02:33 AM

haha i would/should

he didn't even know how to install (guy's half geek/half fast and furious)

I won't even touch the damned thing near his car

I'd take a pic as soon as i can get a reason to other than "i gotta show how you wasted cash"

i've seen those things plenty of times on ebay...do they actually do anything for HP?

Alerosince99 12-15-2003 03:36 PM

If they do its minimal but it may help add more fuel if you are lean but probably not enough to boast about.

havik 12-15-2003 04:29 PM

Anything that promises 20 hp+ for that price should be avoided. Pretty much all of them are too good to be true or offer only a tiny bit of benefit.

Redog 12-15-2003 06:19 PM

They don't really do anything but if you want one, they are sold in packs of 5 for $1. 330k resistors

j{}n 12-16-2003 04:40 AM

i tried it (no, i didn't buy mine off of e-bay, i got it at radio shack), and it did work a bit. i just burned gas quicker. i noticed a lil more jump off the line and top end, but it definitely isn't even worth considering. i undid it and noticed no difference

outkast_68 12-16-2003 10:35 AM

Do you think the resistor will add 20 hp on it's own, with a CAI, or not at all

Final-Reality 12-16-2003 02:31 PM

not at all... havnt you read this thread?

It's sarcasm...

I also tried this "mod" when I had my GA. Bought a pack of .1k ohm resistors from Radio Shack for like $.99. You disconnect the wiring harness from the IAT sensor and put the resistor in its place. It's supposed to make the computer think it's like 40 degrees outside or something, adding more fuel. Didn't help me a bit, though.

AleroHawk 12-17-2003 05:49 PM

HA! HA! HA! That's great stuff Final. Excellent way to pile on the sarcasm.

Final-Reality 12-17-2003 07:00 PM

Thanks... I should start selling resistors on ebay for $5 apiece using those handy pictures...
