nitrous question

Is it safe to run nitrous on the stock engine/internals? like a low dosage of it? I wouldn't run a hundred shot. maybe 50? just to run down the track faster then a stock alero. and for looks of course at shows.

Yeah, you'll be fine. I wouldn't go with a dry kit though, stick to a wet setup. They are a little more to dial in right (more involved), but a lot safer.

Dry kits usually use some kind of fuel manipulator, as to where the wet system uses jets.

A good idea is to switch to copper spark plugs one heat range colder for each 50hp added. Also use high octane fuel.

I wouldn't go more than a 50 shot, but I've heard people run 50 with no problems.

Yes, very much so.

Also OP, Google is your best friend. Find some forums or some good articles where people have been dealing with nitrous. Just read read and read.

All the information is there you just have to go out and find it. You'd be surprised at what you can learn with a couple hours of computer time.

you need to run premium gas ONLY and you need spark plugs that are 2 steps colder.

well i found out today that i may have blown LIM gaskets.. my oil was a light brown muddy diarrhea color. but the car doesbnt eat coolant (yet) and doesn't smoke. she actually runs very nice. but i think i might save up and have MMS do a 3500 swap for me. he said he would hook me up with a sponsorship and do the swap with some extra goodies for 1600 bucks. if i had all the money in the world it would be a turbo 3500 with a 6 speed transmission, but i am on a very strict budget at the moment so unless i win the lotto it aint happening. for now though 3500 is in my future.. How does the stock tranny hold up to the 3500?

sleepyalero 04-04-2013 06:51 PM

youll do fine with the 3500 and stock trans.

and dont even get me started, im going turbo through him.

Not to be a party pooper but i beat a grand am quad four with headers a hfc and cat back exhaust and an intake with a larger tb with my 3400 alero(cold air intake resonator delete and gagt muffler.) so i think a 3500 would do a little better. ;-)

A Legacy is not a WRX NOR an STI. I think 03gxeco has a chance...

xXManwhoreXx 04-06-2013 02:17 AM

Since when did the WRX become a benchmark.... lol

Autolite 104's in copper and you need a tune to run it properly. You will be changing plugs every 15-20k when you use copper. 75 shot is fine if tuned properly. I used the ZEX Dry Kit and had great results with it. ZEX is the shit if you ask me. People talk about wet vs dry and sure there are advantages to wet, but if done right the dry kit is perfect for 100 and under shots imo
